Never heard of this ****ing guy... But I bet he has equal chances of being cut in August vs playing a 16 gm role on the team... Never know with the jags coach bill signs

That Beau ain't Didley. ;)

Seems like a Bad Deal if Shelton gets almost the same Salary. Shelton did not had any help at all in run defense exzept from Guy..

biden says he reminds him of his son

In bb I trust. I was disappointed to see we didn’t keep Shelton for 4m per but bb obviously chose this guy over him at the same price. We shall see. If he matches Sheltons performance it seems our only real downgrade from last years d is the 2 lb spots, and we’ll get to see what chase and Bentley can do.

could be more to do with the base defense. Seems like we went more 3-4 last year and Cleveland exposed our weak run defense. Then the titans ran it down our throats.

maybe this year bb is going back to favoring the 4-3. If he is, then we need a few more guys upfront really badly.

While Billy was busy signing Fat Thor - a clear downgrade from Shelton without the downgrade in cost - Cleveland signs former Bungles DT Andrew Billings, who is a far superior player to FT in every way imaginable...and came cheaper!

Disgraceful.

Who?
Why???
Beau Allen- I don’t even remember when it started..I think he had some crude/ white trash/esque comments on social media back in the day...tweaked my radar as a person I didn’t like. I don’t even have a solid reason, but I disliked him when he was on Eagles, I disliked him with Tampa...I might learn to love him now though!

I used to follow MN high school football closely. He was a great athlete who could get pushed around by smaller kids because he had bad form and could get lazy. He seemed to have continued to be that guy through college. Never heard anything about him being a bad guy. He's a big, athletic dude who can stuff the run if motivated. Hopefully he'll play hard and get better.

Both Brady and Bellichick will want to prove something this year. Bill by bringing an average team to the playoffs without Brady and Brady by getting there without Bill.
Well, then that's kind of sad on the Pats part. We went from SB expectations/competing for championships to hoping our average team makes the playoffs. Brady wants to show he can still play and lead an offense and score lots of points without fearing for his life behind a lousy O-line with no one tho throw to except an aging and beat up Edelman. right now I kind of like Brady's chances over the Pats chances.

Is Bill leaving the Pats and joining an average team?

I actually think average is a fair assessment of this team. The defense is going to be top 10 again, even if it's a bit worse than last year's ultimately disappointing and not historic defense. The offense will be bottom 3, but the net result will probably be between 6 and 9 wins.

Yesterday I went through every team trying to come up with a power ranking and the Pats ended up at #18 for what it's worth (which is, of course, nothing).

Bettors in Vegas go through a similar analysis. Of course, they don't presume that the patriots that we see in midseason is the team that we see in March. Bettors presume that the patriots will improve form march to October, as they always do, and have them as favorites in the division. Maybe someone has them as co-competitors for the division.

BTW, an #18 power rating is just out of the playoffs (14 will be in the playoffs). I'm OK with such a ranking among March teams. If we played with this team now, we might very well be just out of the playoffs.

BUT, to me, that not terrible after a whole one week of free agency. Obviously, quarterback is the issue. For the rest of the team, I think that we're stronger than I would have expected at this point. I always expected to lose Collins, Karras (unless we paid big time) and Van Noy. I also expected to lose a safety to help the cap (Harmon instead of Chung was a surprise)

We kept McCourty, Thuney, JMcCourty, Slater, and Butler. I think that is pretty good. We've replaced the other losses. Let's look at the 12-4 team that had a top 10 defense. What key players have we lost? Was 2019 Brady worth 3 games, 6 games?

BOTTOM LINE
Folks are disappointed we don't have a 35 year old or 40 year old Brady. I get it.

Others are disappointed we didn't pay $15AAV for a couple of past stars that are free agents because their old teams wouldn't pay them enough (presumably in place of McCourty and Thuney). Of course, this is the case every year. Sometimes, Belichick signs a key top player in the first couple of weeks of free agency, more often not.

My post wasn't meant as "this team is gonna be average and I hate it", it was more "this team won't be as bad as we think".

thank you for the clarification. If folks are convinced that team is WORSE than a 6-9 win team, then I believe that their analysis is a bit hysterical and will likely change as we come closer to the season.
