Brady gone

So...will Brady be able to get beyond his frustration with BB to retire as a Patriot in a few seasons?

I sure hope he will. I think there’s little doubt.

Imagine if someone proposed a trade: Tom Brady for Devin McCourty and Joe Thuney.

The combined salaries are roughly equal. One makes you sure-fire division champion and possibly a SB contender; the other doesn't even register on the radar.

As Kraft said, Brady didn’t want to be here. If he did want to continue being a Patriot, an agreement could have been reached one way or another.

His departure isn’t because of inadequate compensation or a lack of salary space; it was Brady deciding he wanted to play elsewhere for whatever reason(s).

It was a difference in philosophy regarding value relative to statistical production , age and projected output.

But Tampa Bay has their own philosophy and set of beliefs. So it will come down to who is right about it.

I know I don’t post much
I just come and read what people gotta say
Unfortunately I obviously made a mistake. You guys have it insufferable thanks for nothing see ya !!

So with all the craziness going on right now, I didn’t really have time today to give this my full attention.

But now it reminds me of this clip.

I think Brady is making a mistake. I don’t think a player should have input on personnel decisions, it’s not their place, even if you are the goat. I think any team that would allow such a thing is stupid, and having lived in Tampa for the past 17 years I can confirm that the Bucs are that team.

They have a ton of talent on offense but Arians is no Belichick. And while maybe playing for Belichick is not all touchy feely sometimes, there is a method to his madness and it clearly works. If he gave Brady the input he wanted, he would be going against everything he’s ever stood for.

Sometimes egos collide and it saddens me to see something great dissolved because of that but that’s life. I don’t think it’s going to go like Brady thinks it will. I think he’s going to be disappointed in what life without Belichick is like. Sometimes people have to leave before they realize what they had and it’s sad when that happens.

While I am a little bit happy that we can go check out a Bucs game and watch Brady play, it won’t be the same.

I’m not sure how I’ll feel when I see him in another uniform. He gave me and my son so many great memories. It’s just sad to see it end this way.

It wouldve been harder if he went to the AFC tto watch him play the pats regularly. Tampa softens the blow a miniscule bit. I think brady and the tampa staff will make some adjustments to suit each other. Remains to be seen how it works esp with shortened offseason program . If anyone can pull it out against all odds its brady.
I bet the pats and tampa bay play in preseason this year.

Surprising no one has started a thank you thread

Lots of talk about trading Edelman to Tampa, but James White is the guy who makes sense.

D. Lewis is available for the non-compensation price of a free agent signing.

I get the distinct impression Brady doesn't want to battle Mahomes anywhere but in the Super Bowl. So playing in that division with the Chargers would be insane. Moreover, beyond the Chiefs the Ravens are also a major threat if they find a way to translate their regular season dominance to the postseason.

Going to the NFC South gives him a great chance to win the division in a far weaker conference. The Saints need to rebuild and the Panthers and Falcons are in disarray. In fact, the whole NFC other than the 49ers and Seahawks are pretenders. And with those two in the same division, achieving that precious #1 seed is within grasp if Brady returns to form and implements his system.

This is a smart move by Brady likely geared to have him advance further in the playoffs by avoiding the two best teams. Whether it means him having a better chance to win a Super Bowl with a hungry NFC West is anyone's guess.

The downside? If Brady's play continues to decline and he struggles behind a poor offensive line, he may regret leaving the comfort of an always competitive Patriot team.

Kinda wondering if his reasoning is because his ego, not lack of talent, he wanted to be among the highest paid that goes along with his GOAT status, and going to the Bucs would satisfy that need. He doesn't like the OTA's and will have to learn a different offensive system + unfamiliarity with their O coordinator.

It is about money, always about money and the status associated with it.. it seems as though Tampa is offering a boat load of cash, and #12 may go over the $300,000,000 total NFL Cash marker.. will be interesting to see how long the contract is for and how much is guaranteed.

Why sacrifice his immense popularity and adulation in NE to go to Tampa Bay??

Another school of thought is that Tampa Bay and Tom Brady have the same initials.. TB to TB???;);) Which makes as much sense as anything I have heard before.

Why would you believe anything Bob Kraft says?
His top priority is public relations with the biggest player departure from New England since Larry Bird’s retirement.

Brady has a shot at a superbowl next year, BB does not. BB will have a shot before he's done though.
I have absolutely no confidence Tampa will compete.

This should be no surprise. The only one Bob bends over for is Goodell... and Asian "massage therapists".

If tom Brady takes the bucs to the Super Bowl, forget legendary goat.
That man upgrades to god of football or something. :D
