Brady gone

This article, the one by Holley, and the one by Curran all read the same narrative to me, and it’s really sad. Basically Brady being the son of a hard ass father who thinks his Dad doesn’t love him because the dad just doesn’t know how to express his emotions properly. This didn’t have to happen. Who knows how much longer Brady really has left as a good QB, but I find it highly unlikely that the Patriots will be better off without him next season. And despite what he’s feeling now, 12 months from now I’m not sure Brady will be feeling happy about it either, even if he does win the Super Bowl with the Bucs next season. He’d still want Belichick’s validation that he made the right decision.....

Taking the Bucs farther into the season than the Patriots go will/would be more than enough validation.

He makes it sound that it was Brady's dream destination. Collaborative Coach ? As supposed to ?

Darlington has been petty all day, because he's apparently incapable of realizing that the notion Brady was leaving the Patriots was bothersome to certain fans.

Is it that challenging for him to understand that fans who are emotionally attached to a player would be off-put by, and deny the prospect of said player leaving? Seriously, dude?

*Darlington reports news that is upsetting*
*People get upset and deny the reality of the news, as people do when they get upset*
*Darlington is taken aback that anyone dare have such a reaction to said news*

What a tool.

His tweet is also a massive reach, presumably towards his back, which he continues to pat himself on.

1. This seems to imply that collaboration didn't occur in New England. He means to suggest that Belichick didn't go to Brady for input on the offensive game-plan? Nonsense, and we have video footage showing as much. Also, *Josh Freaking McDaniels* - those two were attached at the hip and in constant communication about strategy and tactics leading up to games.

2. Yeah, it's a talented roster offensively, sure. Whether or not it'll be a successful roster is a different story, and the jury remains out on the defense.

3. As if Brady had an issue in the cold. Seriously?

4. LOL

Simply don't think the Patriots had the money to both keep Brady and put a team around him that could succeed in his waning years. He's still a good quarterback but no longer capable of turning water into wine and the money isn't there for the wine. The final writing went up when the new CBA actually depressed the 2020 cap.

Think he's joking, see proximity to NYC bullet. The Bucs really suck except for two offensive skill players. They're not good. Their coaching staff and front office suck. This was all about money in the end.

All of that is true but more importantly the patriots dont have a superbowl caliper roster and that's the most deciding factor

Brady doesnt have 4 years to spend on a rebuild like he did 09 to 13

Does anyone really think Brady would of left if our offense was stacked the way the bucs is?

Reports were that Brady had been largely sidelined, and that those input meetings weren't happening. Reports were also (and video seemed to verify) that Brady was told not to coach the kids during the off season, but to let the coaching staff do that.

Pretty sure the Darlington tweet was a joke. The punchline is none of the speculated things Brady supposedly cared about mattered and it was all about money.

I dont think it was about the offensive weapons or contract. They just couldnt work together . Ego and saturation played a part in this.

Bucs play the saints twice and the packers this season. Big ratings.

I think he went to tampa because he had only two choices on the table. Not because of money.

  • Tampa is a warm place to play
  • Tampa is in the Eastern Time zone
  • Tampa has offensive talent
  • Tampa has a QB friendly coach

How is that a punchline?

He had multiple options, including the Patriots. He had two options who were willing to pay him $30m a year.

The Bucs have legitimate offensive talent on the boundary and at TE; but as you said, the rest of the team is iffy.

The OL is questionable, the defense is unproven, and as good as Arians is at coaching offense (in certain regards), he's not 5% of the overall coach Belichick is. He's also a bit of a meathead/loudmouth who has his own system and approach, but is rigid and inflexible outside of that system.

Brady is a sharp, contemplative guy, so I don't see Arians' system (or personality) being a great fit. Brady needs to be with thoughtful, adaptable coaches - like McDaniels and Belichick.

While I'm sure he'll learn some things from Arians, and maybe have some initial success when looking at the game from a new perspective, when other teams adjust over the course of the season and things get tight, that difference in coaching will become extremely evident. And that's just on the offensive side of the ball; we haven't scratched the surface on the lack of coaching and management everywhere else on the team.

Darlington is dead serious.

He's been doing victory laps today, patting himself on the back for being right, because apparently Patriots' fans getting upset and going into denial about Tom Brady leaving the Patriots is upsetting to him.

Fair enough. I don't really know who Darlington is so I assumed he was making a joke. The "proximity to NYC" thing for Tampa made zero sense to me and Tampa is a bad football team.

Tampa appeared to be a bad football team because they had a QB that threw 30 picks. They had one of the best run defenses in the league and have talent on O. Upgrade on QB will do them wonders

One could argue the Patriots were the best team in football in 2010. And knocking on the championship door in mist of the other years between 09-13. I'm 1/2 asleep but I think that strengthens what you are saying.

He's been beating the "Brady is leaving" drum for months, including going on Curran's podcast to say so.

When he said as much, (understandably) a lot of Patriots fans got upset and denied that such a thing could happen. Now that he has been proven right, he's reminding everyone and their mother that he was right, chastising fans for having such a reaction to his initial reporting, and suggesting they re-watch all his appearances on ESPN (where he suggested Brady was leaving) so they can "watch with a more open mind to learn and understand how Tom Brady got to this moment".

His full tweet is below; I won't post the link, just the text:

"I post this video not simply because it is therapeutic for me (it is)… but also because I think you can now watch with a more open mind to learn and understand how Tom Brady got to this moment".

So yeah, the guy is acting grade-A tool at the moment, IMHO.

The difference between winning and losing in the NFL is extremely small. Arians isn't 5% of the overall coach Belichick is.

Over the course of a 16+ game season, those little details in preparation will have a massive impact. And that's not scratching the surface of coaching, culture, management, and preparation beyond just the head coach.
