Brady gone

I am happy for Tom as clearly this is what he wanted for a while. Especially as a Dad who has swallowed the lumps in my throat watching my own kids leave the nest, my overwhelming feeling is about how much that young man did to make me happy. So if ever there was someone who deserved to go out on their own terms it is he. It is evident to me that BB and RK understand and respect this in spite of the sadness of it.

All things must pass, this day was inevitable and I know all here do wish Tom nothing but success and happiness. And let’s not give up too much hope for this team going forward. They have some gaps but much more strengths. GO PATS!!

Greatest dynasty of all time has finally ended. 20 years of excellence we will never ever see again. I’ll cherish those memories forever.

I would love a multi DVD boxset of the 20 year's of dominance.

Devastated.

Don't care if that sounds overly dramatic or if that means my priorities are out of whack.

Tom has been an important part of my life and - some bad years - one of the better parts of my life was looking forward to watching him.

It's not quite the worst case scenario (that would be a very public blow-up between Tom and Bill) but it's close.

Funny thing is I said months ago that Brady was going to get a huge contract, of course we don't know what it is yet,. And people are pretty much like what the hell do you know Brady has never asked for a ton of money. Team first.

Well it certainly looks like Brady is going to get paid now. My guess is either one of the LA teams or Tampa Bay.

What I'm going to miss is the "comfort" of always seeing Brady here and knowing no matter how bad it got there's a chance the team could win because of him.

I don't blame Brady the thought of playing with Harry and Sanu would even force Ray Charles to retire. I said before this that Brady would be really foolish to come back here given his alternatives in FA.

Hmm.. JG was traded in October of 2017. Are you saying that they didn't commit 2.5 more years to Brady? Are you saying they didn't give Brady $28M in new money during that time?

Call me crazy but you seem to be ignoring things that happened after the trade.

They also won a SB after he was traded. The sky isn’t falling.

Why can't you guys read.

I didnt day I wanted jimmy, I am saying that if you trade jimmy, you don't ****ing **** around with brady and let him walk

If you do, then why did you trade jimmy

Because only suckers fall for sunken cost fallacies?

The JG decision from 2.5 years ago has no effect on today's Brady decision. They are independent of each other.

Trading Gilmore only frees up 3.8M in cap space. What would be the point?

Ensures we auck enough to replenish with our own draft picks

All I know is, if you think jimmy is a franchise QB for the best 15 years, you dont trade him for 2.5 years of service of brady.

I personally dont think jimmy is that guy and I believe the pats made the right decision.

However, I also think brady can still be brady with the right weapons and could easily do that for 2 more years.

So yeah. Trading Jimmy because you still have 5 years left of brady is the right move.

But that isnt what bill did.

That trade for Sanu looks even worse now.

clearly it is a chance he is willing to take. He is super competitive and loves challenges
I will never doubt him or his desires. Lots of variables from coaching to team structure can make or break organizations. if your team has a bunch of injuries and you have minimum salary backups your team will fail. We know these were strengths in NE. You roll the dice most everywhere else

So is patsfans.com gonna die down now that Brady's gone? Since sooo many people said they're done with the NFL when Brady's gone? Or gonna wait for the other wheel (BB) to fall off before jumping off the bandwagon?
Brady's not quite gone yet. I have my eyes on a nice Tampa jersey. Gonna wait a bit until this plays out. Definitely there will be more outdoor hikes and activities on Sunday's this season with him not on the team. I'm not sure there is a place in Denver to watch the Bucs??

Bill didnt commit to brady.

Brady is still a top 5 qb.

Bill ****ed this up.

Brady will have a rebound year with whoever he plays with because now he gets to pick his roster.

History will not be kind to bill on this one

He could of not thrown a single completion all year and still should of gotten a 2 year 50mil deal. BB should of planned for it. I know it's very divided here on this issue but IMO he's an exception to the rule and should of been able to play out in NE if that's what he wanted. He's given us everything for 20 years.

I put up in the Rumors thread how I felt the Pats could sign Brady for $27APY for 3 years.
We have no idea if Brady was miffed because of the contract negotiations last year, because of the AB situation, or because of the rest of the crap (injuries to the O-line with subpar replacements, none of the TEs working out, etc).

Unless Brady breaks from the modus operandi that he's had with the Pats, we'll never know specifically what deal was/wasn't offered.

the . time . was . now

Of course it would be nicer seeing Tom retire a Patriot (which he still can).

The opportunity to watch BB build a Patriot team wo Tom is - special.

Glad ill be able to see it. 2020 just got a lot more interesting..

Relax all.

Go out to a bar. Find a large group of Pat fans and reminisce. Hug each other and high five a lot.

All will be OK.

Honestly look at the team right now and tell me... How in the world is there so little talent and cap room left.

It's the best decision for all parties involved. Brady deserves a more talented roster and BB can finally prove that he is the true master mind of the dynasty.

With that being said. I'm still shocked to my very core. It's one of those rare "Where were you when it happened" moments that you'll always remember.

The GOAT has left the building.
Easily... bad drafts going back to 2014* mean overpaying vets to fill those holes. Vets age. Result? Young talent all but nonexistent on the roster without a lot of cap room. It all goes back to the drafts.

* = jury is still somewhat out on 2018 and definitely out on 2019, though 2019 is not off to a great start.

After watching their respective a football life's, My mother, a lifelong Steelers fan, was surprised at how much Bradshaw hated Noll, even after Noll had passed. l don't think that Brady has that level of animosity towards Belichick, but he grew tired of the Patriots'/Bill's way towards the end.

If the 20 years of being somewhat uncomfortable in a stressful bottom line environment led to 20 yesrs of tremendous success, but also led to Tom leaving 2 years early, I'm ok with it.

I want Brady in LA!

I think he stay in the AFC. Who do you have in the afc right now? Mahomes, lamar jackson? Who else? Big Ben coming back from the elbow and the Texans got weaker trading their best wideout.

Get picks. If you could get a crazy number of picks, gotta consider it unless it kills us on dead money.

The Pats already have 14 Picks. And, like I said, it only frees up 3.8M in cap space this year.
