Look at the past SB winning QBs of the last decade. Only Foles and Flacco are not HOFers.

You need a franchise QB to win in this league, and it is much more likely to land a franchise QB with a higher pick.

We should be clearing up cap space and accumulating assets so we have multiple chances at landing a franchise QB. Look at the Cardinals. They moved on from Josh Rosen, a #10 pick, just to pick Kyler Murray at #1.

But Belichick didn't do that. He tagged Thuney, paying two guards big contracts. Retained DMac. Retained Slater.

The fact that Belichick retained most of the aging veterans means that he is confident in Jarrett Stidham.

It depends what you mean by "tank". The Patriots should not tie up any significant resources on a bridge QB who will almost certainly lead us nowhere but 9-7 at best. They should still try to field the best possible team and win every game. If that's tanking, I'm all for it.

I think it indicates that this roster's best chance at competing is through a defensive/run oriented approach.

Let’s face it we aren’t winning with Stidham or whichever bum QB we bring in. Our offensive weapons are far from enough. It doesn’t matter whatever JAG we sign at QB. Face reality and blow it up. Put aside the pride, tank and reload. We need a legit franchise QB.

You may very well be right but shouldn’t we see stidham throw more than 4 passes before passing judgment?

Sure but if/when he absolutely sucks we should start considering the tank. No point being one of those treadmill teams.

Bringing the aging mccourtys back on pretty sizable salaries and a 14m tag on thuney says we will not be tanking. Our defense will still be really good, great if we fill the void left by collins/kvn. And offensively have holes that can be filled with a good draft and maybe a hogan of 2016/lafell of 2014/ lloyd of 2012 type pickup. You never know, Brady was ready year 2, lets see with Stidham.

I'll never understand the tank mentality. What a way to rev up your fan base by trying to put out the suckiest product you can. Guess you'll need BB gone too, because that man is all about winning (and he's in charge of buying the groceries).

The Bills are going to be very tough for us this year. Their coach is legit. Their talent is legit. But Belichick is the GOAT so should be interesting.
