Thuney gets tagged

Even if it was just a bandaid (tradable after a year) contract or a tag n trade I think something would have happened had there been CBA certainty. BB just isn't a tag happy kinda guy
Only tag n trade I can remember is Cassel. All other tags have either resulted in staying or an extension.

He won’t be on the team for long. The pats are at about -2 million in cap with Thuney & Dmac accounted for.
Yeah, even if they were letting Brady walk, they’d have no room for anything else. They need to either immediately come to a long term deal with him which lowers his cap hit, trade him, or trade someone else (Mason).

Hmm Dolphins.

-Tons of cap space
-a need for OL
- 3 first rounders

Plug and play guard from day 1 to protect Tua would be worth 1 of those other 2 1s right?

What does the new CBA say about tag and trade? Anything new? Thought this is borderline outlawed.

my guess is trade was agreed to previously.
So the other shoe should fall soon just hashing out the details

No even swap if anything
I’d rather have the pick.
Especially if they are targeting like a Herbert or a trade up for Tua even who knows
LOL, I read this as "I'd rather have the p-r-i-c-k" so Odell to the Pats! :)

happened with Frank Clark last year. Seahawks tagged him, traded him to Kc and shortly after he agreed to a long term deal with the chiefs.

Maybe they want a 3rd this year, if a team was willing to throw top dollar on Thuney they might as well throw a pick to secure his services.

Great move. Pats can control where he goes. He was a prime target for some of the AFCE teams.

If they’re keeping him, I hate this move.

Thuney is so intelligent that Pats should also make him an assistant Oline coach just to get their money's worth.

Did not expect this.
YESSS!!!!!! Finally, they're keeping what they need on the OL. I just hope it's not a sign-and-trade situation.

If they keep him I would hope they’re close on a long term deal to help with the cap.
