The Tom Brady rumor thread

Not only that but we’re talking about preseason, if Stidham is starting next year we’ll be looking up at Buffalo for years to come.

Calm down snowflake. I remember when everyone was convinced that BB was ruining the franchise by playing some noddle-armed 6th rounder instead of the great Drew Bledsoe. No one on this board has any idea how good Stidham is.

It's ridiculous to state that starting Stidham will put us behind Buffalo "for years to come". Putting aside the fact that Stidham is almost certainly better than Josh Allen, if Stidham is good, the Pats have a low cost option at QB for the next 3 years and can load up the rest of their roster like KC did under Mahomes rookie deal & Seattle did when Wilson was on his rookie deal.

Worst case, the Pats will be well positioned, either with draft capital or salary cap space, to find a better option at QB in 2021. Stidham is making less than a million a year. There's no way moving to Stidham could burden this franchise for "years to come". Anyone who feels this way has no idea how the NFL actually works.

It's ridiculous to state Stidham will put us behind Buffalo, but it's not ridiculous to state he's certainly better than Allen? Thought you said no one on this board knows how good he is?

Agree. In 2000 certainly no one expected Tom selected with 199th pick by the Patriots would give us so many years of glory and become the greatest player of all the time. A few years ago some folks thought Mahomes would be a JAG,some anticipated he would be a good player but I bet minority of us suggested he is gonna turn out to be a great leader and awesome player.
All I want to say is in BB I trust. If he thinks Stidham is the guy, let's give him a chance to play and then evaluate him.
I have no the faintest idea who will lead our team next season - I hope it will be TB12 but if someone else named Stidham or not is the QB I will support him and the Pats every minute on the field.

Allen is a train wreck. He's a fantastic athlete, but has horrible football IQ. I can't imagine any QB (Allen included) coached by BB, playing at Allen's level. Buffalo is a legitimate Super Bowl contender if they have even an average QB. Allen will prevent them from reaching that level.

Confession: I'm reaching a tipping point where I don't even care anymore if Brady stays or goes. I just want it to be over so we can move the frig on either way. If the Pats have a new QB under center life will go on. Realistically, they can't pay Brady market value AND field a competitive offense around him. Also, whilenthere would absolutely be a dropoff, I'm not sure it's ALL bad. Maybe a few young WR's could actually develop in the system.

So does anyone else get the feeling that BB is running Tom Brady out of town? If this is true are you ok with that?

Sounds to me like BB's pride makes him want to win with Stidham to "prove" he can win Superbowls without Brady. But what if he reverts to his Cleveland days with just Stidham taking snaps under center?

It probably won't be pretty with Stidham, at least in the early going...but Brady probably has some pride too to show he can win outside of the NE system.

No. I don't.

I get the feeling that BB is trying to put the best football team out there that he can under the salary cap and he has a number that he’d feel comfortable paying Brady. If Brady would rather play for more (which he has every right to) he’ll move on and the pats will spend money to build around stidham/possible FA QB we bring in.

Bill isnt fielding the best team he can when he lers the goat walk out the door shown zero signs of slowing down until you've given him dog **** to work with.

Bill is hell bent on leaving something negative on his new England resume

I think BB is simply doing what he thinks is best for the team.

It's pretty much what he's done always and regardless of public perception.

When Brady leaves half this board is going to leave with him bc they "adopted" the Pats as their team like cahpetbaggahs

I welcome the competition between Mariota and Stidham and it a rookie

Missing practices etc.. and reports of nagging injuries, e.g. tennis elbow are definitely signs of something.

But I agree with you that he had dog shyt to work with last season.

Now that it is getting real close I’m actually starting to come to the realization that Brady might be gone. Always thought he would be back but it’s not looking good down to the deadline.

It’s been a great run. The greatest run any fan could ever ask for.

People will be rightfully upset and emotional.

Fans in other cities will not likely get a player like Brady in their lifetimes. He may be the most liked player, based on popularity and memorabilia sales, of any US fan base in history.

It won’t be a normal thing to see him leave, or retire.
