The Tom Brady rumor thread

If he has say towards the roster
I think Tom having control over the roster is a stretch. I think if Tom stumped for AB Ariens and Licht would take that into account but in terms of years, $ and overall team fit they would still have final say.

Funeral? How so?

I keep seeing people badmouth Tampa, but not really being able to give any real reasons for it beyond "It's Tampa".

Arians is a clown.
Their defense is a hot dumpster fire.
Also, It’s Tampa :)

I don’t feel like listening the resurrected army of Manning apologists and their renewed Manning is GOAT chants. Brady would be a moron to go anywhere like that. That defense sucks too.
Ah, the Manning apologists. Have to love them. Has a once all time great QB faded any faster than Manning? ESPN is begging him to call games and he seems content to just be a goofy TV personality. Not that I blame him but boy was Brady right in those deflategate emails when he said Manning had 2 years left and he had 7-8 and that would be the final chapter. The final chapter has been a masterpiece with Brady collecting 3 more rings and passing all his records last year and still viable for yet another mega contract at 42/43.

Tampa’s defense was actually really good last year. And that’s even considering how many bad situations Winston put them in.

Yeah, that is a consideration I didn’t think of. Any time you have 30 INTs the defense is going to pay for that in points allowed.

Their D actually was respectable at the end of the year. Run D was #1 and pass D last 8 games was decent. Keep in mind their O turned it over 41 times. That didn't help the scoring D.

If Tom goes there they are a playoff team.

In the NFC, they may be a Super Bowl contender. Them vs the Saints would be two bad ass games.

The more time that passes, the more I am in awe of Manning’s regular season dominance and baffled by his postseason gagging. It’s really quite simple: in the regular season, he always had an answers when the chips were down and he could will the team to victory. In the postseason, he couldn’t. Brady could.

Yeah. I agree. As much as I enjoy making fun of Manning, he really has been the only comparable QB to Brady in terms of the regular season and the ability to carry teams to double digit wins year after year and staying healthy in the process. The post-season was baffling. You just can't coach clutch and playing big in the big moments.

And Arians is a two time Coach of the Year winner

What do you think of Winston? I’m intrigued by the LASIK procedure. The dude couldn’t see worth a damn and, for whatever reason, refused to wear contacts. The physical ability is there. I guess it’s a question of whether you think those were simply bad decisions (adjusting for the batted balls) or a product of him not being able to see.

What if there is no serious interest of other teams at all. Or lets say nobody wants to pay him what he wants. Brady would come back to the pats with a huge chip on his shoulder that all those teams passed on him. Where have we seen that before?
Nice.

Yes, this scenario is now in play too. Would be an awesome story if he got shunned by a few teams and then won another SB with the Patriots.

I think his issue has always been intelligence/wisdom (where and when to throw), rather than physical (ability to fit the ball, ability to chuck it). So, if there's been a vision problem effecting his ability to read post-snap coverage, that could lead to him being a much better QB. It would intrigue me enough to look into it, if I were a GM looking for a QB. But, I also see Arians, and know that he's historically been able to work well with his QBs, and I see that he seems as if he's more than ready to move on. As a GM, that would make me hesitant.

So, for example, if the Patriots re-sign Brady, and Winston is willing to sign for backup money as a one or two season tryout sort of deal, I'd consider that a win. If, on the other hand, Winston were being brought in as the clear starter with a multi-year deal, even with low end starter money, I'd consider that a desperate act.

All along I have believed Brady would come back on a reasonable deal, but the longer the wait has me secretly wanting him to leave just out of pure curiosity.

When I take off the rose colored glasses I see us in store for a horrible offense if Brady is our qb next year. Dante officially retired so that can't be good for an immobile qb like Brady and Brady has shown a strong dislike in breaking in rookies which I expect to be more than usual this year. This is said to be a strong wr class and our tight ends need to be blown up. Is Brady at this stage in his career willing to go through these growing pains? Edelman and White are like the only thing really keeping him here.

The Bucs do have receivers in Evans and Goodwin...as well as TE's in Brate and Howard....

And it's nice and warm in Tampa....but the NFC South is pretty tough with the Saints and probably the Falcons who should bounce back despite cap woes.

Hes colorblind. LASIK doesn't cure that.

That Tampa bay report is not smoke and mirrors they have a potent O that can compete against any Defense. The Bucs are my dark horse Team for Tom they have some impressive pieces on O plus a good Draft position. They could use all their picks on Defense...Offense is already Top 10.

I still want Howard.
