The Tom Brady rumor thread

Believing in himself even though doing so would seem absurd, and not giving a crap what others think, is TB12 since 2000, and probably before that.
Tom still has his hardcore makeup, but I feel as though he’s coming across a bit differently in some other areas, that’s all.

My issues regarding whether Brady is acting differently shouldn’t affect you too much, but thanks for your thoughtful contribution to the discussion.

FYI, I don’t agree on some of this stuff, but I am always interested to get your take, as you’ve been a long time voice of reason. And it’s quite possible that some (including myself) are just too biased to see the reality.

Right...Giselle was the bad guy from 2007-13 and now is poised to be bad again. So ridiculous.

Kraft and Belichick could have easily given Brady an extension in August. They instead chose to take the franchise tag off the table, meaning either (a) they don’t care if Tom walks, or (b) they don’t believe Tom will walk. This was an idiotic decision, and one that I’ll continue to lambast since I was just as critical when it happened.

I'll put my money on (b).

Thanks, man. The feeling is obviously mutual.

As far as this take goes re: Brady acting a bit differently, I’d like to think that most of us would agree, although we’ll all have different levels of what that means to us.

I’ve mentioned that I’ve been hard on him the past few weeks, and that’s something that I need to let go, but I just don’t see how they get out of this corner that they’ve painted themselves in, and it’s going to be hard watching him leave if that’s what it comes to.

But let’s be honest—he is definitely enjoying all of the attention, some of which he has gone out of his way to create, and I guess that’s what I’m not liking. To each his own, of course.

I can’t imagine any long term fans are loving what they’re seeing from Brady, regardless of who’s to blame. I know I’m not.

We’re back to the “is he,” or “isn’t he trolling us” argument, and there’s been a lot to suggest that he is.

No, there hasn't.

When there’s a pretty good chance that this is the way that you’re leaving town after a 20 yr relationship, it’s not the best look.

Are you saying that it's Brady's fault the team has been ****ing around and refusing to give him the contracts he's deserved over the past 2-3 seasons? Is that really where you want to go with this?

Because literally none of this Brady/Patriots offseason drama would have happened if the Patriots hadn't been ****ing around with Brady's contract situation.

And yes—he certainly owes the team and the fans some small portion of his success.

In his entire career, he never forced the team to resort to the franchise tag, and he never went to free agency. He doesn't owe the team a damned thing. And what does any football player owe to the fans, with regards to his on-field success?

Hahahahaha. He owes the fans some small portion of his success? Thank God we threw those blocks for him and were able to get open for him eh? We have exactly 0.000% to do with Brady’s success. And he doesn’t owe the team jack either. His steady guidance and consistent play at the most important position on the field have given the team 6 titles. He’s turned Bill Belichick from a guy who is “maybe a better DC than a HC” after week 4 of the 2001 season into the GOAT HC. He’s made Tuggy millions of dollars. He’s helped make the Patriots the #7 valued sports franchise in the world. There is, quite literally, nothing he owes this team.

Tuggy...lol!

Hundreds of millions.

Hate to go psychologist on you bro, but your posts on Brady for some time now are obsessive. Every day, negative post after negative post.
Brady trolling fans? That's bs.
But YOU trolling a lot of this board?
Absolutely.
A lot of your takes are really off the wall.
Never figured you for this kind of stuff.
Your takes on Brady are 100% wrong.
How about using a little common sense?
The drop dead date has ALWAYS been March 18. Did it ever occur to you that not just TB, but BB as well, was waiting for the end of the 2day legal tampering period, March16-17, so they would BOTH have an idea of what other teams might be offering?
Just as importantly, TB has proven over 20 years that it's not about $, or this bizarre agenda you seem to think he has vs. the team, but about ONE thing: Winning! Rings! He has told us this over and over again and had proven it with his actions. The same goes for BB.
This is something we KNOW. Not speculation like you keep posting.
I do think he wants to know something about how the team will improve. And he SHOULD. So how does he know that will happen? Again, that 2day legal tampering period also allows the Patriots to make their pitches to any fas that might help the team. It also gives other teams a clearer picture of what fas they might keep or lose. That knowledge helps teams to then look at trades.
That gives BB and TB a clearer picture of some moves that can be made. They can't wait until AFTER March 18 for obvious reasons. But until both the cba was finalized and the legal tampering period was over, a deal was NEVER going to get done. That's on both TB and BBs part.
Rather than slander the greatest player not just in team history, but also in NFL history, on a daily basis, why can't you just wait til March 18 to see what happens?
I think you're better than what you've been posting.

I said that the team and the fans have some small part of his success, yes.

Belichick’s decision making obviously helped, and some of us have been loyal for 20 years through a lot of bull$hit. Cheating scandals (that keep going), paying for all of the costs associated, showing up in the rain and snow helping to cheer, buying his snake oil, helping to further his TB12 brand, etc.

I’m not saying that I’m expecting to walk to the mailbox and find a check from him, but yes, I do feel as though we’re responsible for a small portion of his successful time here.

If fans have any part of a team’s success whatsoever, how are you explaining the Browns, the Jets, and all the other crap teams out there who have rabid, passionate fans that sell out their stadiums every Sunday? We don’t have anything to do with what a player does on the field. His hard work and his teammates and coaches do. Not us. Please stop with this. You’re better than that.

Supa's a great poster. He's completely off on the Brady stuff, but he's a great poster.

But

He's completely off on the Brady stuff

I agree with everyone saying all you other fans have nothing to do with Brady's success, but I'd like everyone to right now acknowledge the role I, longtime pats fans dot com ****poster primetime, have played in his success. I watch the games. I clap (not too loud). I post here. I post here. I post here some more.

He doesn't just owe me something, he owes me everything.

People seem to pick and choose what they want to read when responding, so let me clarify once again— this would depend on whether or not you believe that it’s about money, and some of us don’t buy that for a second. That’s where the idea of him holding a grudge against the team (Bill) comes in, and the fans getting caught up in the crossfire.

I think it's more like when the woman you were with says you're breaking up unless you change and then leaves it up to you to decide if she's bluffing or not.

Agree to what you know she wants and it was all a bluff. Don't and she'll be wearing someone else's shirt some morning.

TB’s deep threat===>>between the hashes / 5 yds down field
Hmmmm .....
Wonder why the GM/coach devotes the least amount of resources to outside WRs?
2007 was a lifetime ago

And a quality TE was only 2 years ago...and a 2nd and 3rd quality WR was a year before that....

Our pass catching options were piss poor last year. That’s on Belichick, not Brady.

Except BB signed AB when available which took away their remaining cap flexibility. Wasn't BB's fault that AB blew up the day after being signed

Diving deeper into the latest Tom Brady free agency chatter - The Boston Globe

Volin has some generally positive news for Brady’s chances of returning. One source told him the Chargers are Brady’s only option if he leaves. I’m never going to stop mocking Volin for generally being a clown, but I do think he’s considerably better connected around the league than he is with the team he actually covers.

How exactly does one assess a "great poster"? That seems kind of like being great at taking a ****. I didn't know that was a skill set that actually existed.

So now that he said what you want to hear, he's all right.
