Does anyone have a friend in the know of what the penalty might be?

Isn't "lying attorneys" a bit redundant?

haha yea the words are practically interchangeable. It’s like saying you went for a swim in the “wet ocean” or something

My source tells me it’s a second round pick, with an option on the table for a third round pick as well.

What if Goodell goes all Ditka and takes the whole draft?

The NFL has conditioned people that if the Patriots move one molecule over the line or even close to the line, it's the greatest scandal in the history of sports.

If the league imposes a monetary fine and a takes away a 4th round (or later) pick, people are going to complain that they are covering for the Patriots. If they opt to take away a 1st round pick and issue suspensions, they'll be screwing the Patriots over nothing. Again.

I'd say the NFL has painted itself into a corner, but I think they want to be there and they don't see the situation they've created as a problem.

I wish I could bring myself to actually care about the Red Sox' penatly.
I do and think we all should. Putting an asterisk on the Sox would be horrible. The Boston/New England sports world has been terribly tainted already by the powers in New York.

A stain on the Sox too? Have you read the crap being written/said about the Astros?

And for the record, I think there is more to the story, ie; other teams as well!

I kinda think this thing might fade away, just like those ball measurements from the 2015 season...never to be spoken of ever again.

I saved all of the nfl and Goodell public statements before that season began stating how they were going to be measuring AND DOCUMENTING ball pressure at games throughout the season.

there was a clear change of position/policy later in the year when reports from the Chicago Minnesota game I think it was where some balls dropped to 8 psi or so, which confirmed what Nobel prize scientists, top academic institutions and 5th graders in science class had been saying all along about IGL.

Goodell and NFL did a complete 180, when asked about releasing the numbers from their measurements, Goodell’s statement was something along the lines of
“We never said we were collecting measurement data or were going to release it. We Conducted random spot checks throughout the year to ensure teams were complying with the rules and we’re happy to report there were no violations”.

Which was a complete lie, he very clearly before the season stated they were going to be gathering data on ball psi before games, and just couldn’t commit to what kind of timeline would be involved for releasing that data.

he’s such a slimy little f***... born and bred politician, a sniveling worm. A perfect Wormtongue for the Cabal of nfl ownership

If they take a 4th pick, people will complain the Patriots got only a slap on the wrist from the Commissioner, who is Bob Kraft’s buddy.

If they take a 1st pick, fine the team $1 million and fine the coach $500,000, people will complain the Patriots got only a slap on the wrist from the Commissioner, who is Bob Kraft’s buddy.

My guess is that Goodell takes the 3rd round choice and maybe a 6th, with a fine of at least $500,000. Of course, he could argue "prior bad acts" and take the 1st.

If we lose any draft picks expecially as high a third Kraft should sit out the season

Kraft should oversee the Brady situation and then step down.

I don’t think there’s an appetite out there in the public to hammer the Pats this time. Not like there was before. Maybe because people think this is the end of the run. That will help with any penalty. It’s more like “they filmed the bungles lolz” Also most non pats fans are talking about Brady and not this.

prediction: 500K fine to the organization and a downgraded 3rd round pick like the Giants had. Also a statement that this was not the work of the football team just the video department, but rules are rules. The perception in Deflategate was the league went way over the top and they won’t want to repeat that here. But they did point a camera at the sidelines so something needs to happen.

Assuming of course that no link to Bill or the football ops was found. If there was and they were flat out caught cheating then I hope they get absolutely incinerated. Just being honest.

It seeks like the nfl is just going to let this one side into oblivion

Why would any of the other teams or teams’ fans care if the league punishes NE “again for nothing” ?

From the League’s point of view, it makes sense to punish the Patriots harshly once more. What do they have to lose ? 31 fanbases will rejoice at “BB getting his” and Kraft will continue getting the services he needs before games from various massage parlours. Win win.

Until BB dies, there will ALWAYS be an appetite for anti-Patriot decisions.

He’s never played a down before, so you could argue he’s been sitting out for years. Unless you count his grab *** in the locker after victories.

I had dinner the other night with a friend and his family. His son does video with another NFL team - the same kind of promotional stuff as this.

He thought the whole thing was a joke. He was in a room with a bunch of folks from other teams when they saw the footage, and people from some of the teams were screaming for heads to roll, and he was like..."every team has footage like that. It was meaningless."

So yeah, we'll probably lose our first-round pick.

Anti-Patriot sentiment will last for the next 100 years.

Generations of complainers and whiners will always need an excuse
