NFLPA committee voted for new CBA.

I can’t remember the last time a CBA was negotiated in the NBA/MLB/NFL with this little disruption or fanfare.

The league and union have both been mindful of not wanting to kill the golden goose this time around, they started the negotiations for this contract a year ago. I can't recall the NFL and NFLPA ever beginning negotiations two years before a CBA was set to expire

2011 was a walk in the park compared to many past negotiations across various sports. We missed what? All of 1 exhibition game?

NHL has missed an entire season. MLB had the year of no World Series. NFL has had missed games plus those games with replacement players. I can only imagine having replacement players in today's media climate.

The NHL lockout and my Wikipedia knowledge of the 80s NFL lockouts were also contributing factors to my guess about how this one would go.

Didn't know about the MLB one.

Maurkice Pouncey and Russell Wilson have come out strongly against the CBA.

Last NBA one was done quickly.

With respect to players having short careers, a number often bandied about is 3 years. However, does anyone know if that 3 years is a mean length or a median length? If it's mean, I could imagine it's artificially low due to all the scrubs who wash out in a year or less (i.e. people that never really had any realistic chance of having a "career").

Knowing what career length has 50% of players playing longer than and 50% of player playing shorter than would be interesting.

Average (which is almost always a mean unless it is clarifed) is 6.0 years for rookies who make the 53 man roster. The 3.2 or 3.3 year average career is a number based on being one of the 90 players in camp which is used to distort the picture.

The NFL's Official Spin On Average Career Length Is A Joke

Sherman and Rodgers both posted on Twitter why they say No. Gilmore retweeted both of them, so I assume he is also a hard No.

I'd link it, but it's Twitter.

I'm torn. I hate the deal for the game of football & the players health, but I want a CBA to get done so we resign Brady

Median career length is about 5 years for any player that has ever played a regular season game.

These guys can make so much money outside of football now that youd think it ve easier for them to hold their ground.

However so many of the players being in the 1 to 3 years avg career length its obvious to see what part of the league the owners attack to get what they want.

Ramon Foster, the Steelers NFLPA Rep, didn't acknowledge the "vote" that Graziano posted about. However, he DID acknowledge that the supposed "cap" of $250K was removed for Game 17.

As Foster has pointed out, there are far too many rumors going around about what is and ISN'T in the deal. We fans have ZERO idea what's been put in or taken out of the current deal that's being talked about.

Perfect Example:

And here is Chase Daniels standing up wanting to educate people.

Article 46 could have very easily been changed. Especially since Graziano has said that owners have been very willing to compromise to get that 17th game.

Here is another one of Foster's posts:

Maurkice Pouncey and Russell Wilson have come out strongly against the CBA.

Both are completely ignorant about the current CBA negotiations and what is actually in it. This was, essentially, confirmed by Ramon Foster, The Steelers' NFLPA rep.

Players dont want the 17th game or the extra playoff game.

Its really that simple.

Those are the two biggest things the owners want and I can't even tell you what it is the players are getting in return for these extra paydays for the owners that the players will never ever be able to take back.

Bad deal.

So, who is your source in the NFLPA who you are getting your information from? Anyone of the 32 NFLPA Reps who have been a part of the talks for the past year? Or is it Russell Wilson ? Marquice Pouncey? Guys who aren't actually involved in the talks and don't actually know jack about what has and hasn't been agreed to? OH. I know. It's Aaron Rodgers. Another yap flapper who isn't a part of the negotiations..

Seriously. Your claim that the "players don't want the 17th game or the extra play-off game" isn't actually based on anything but conjecture or a few loud mouths.

No one outside the player reps, the NFLPA Exec Council and the NFL Negotiation Council knows what's ACTUALLY in the new CBA. So this idea of yours that the Players aren't getting anything in return and that only the owners are benefiting is just pure conjecture and has no basis in reality.

FWIW, Rodgers serves as the Packers player representative. He may be a douche at times but at least in this instance he's a relatively informed douche

You said Wilson was talking out his ass all the while implying you knew more than him.

I'm good.

I don't believe that for a second. Based on his BS I saw on SportsCenter, he's posturing and just running his mouth so he sounds informed.

Here are the people involved in the negotiations from the Player's Side:

NFL Players Association - NFLPA Officers

Several of the Player reps (ones outside the players executive committee) have been there for every CBA negotiation meeting. One of them is Ramon Foster. Another is Chase Daniel.

And just as a reminder, Rodgers is the one who claimed that the 2011 CBA negotiations gave Goodell Article 46. So anything he says publicly should be taken with a grain of salt.

How does Chase Daniel still have a job as a backup QB?
