Franchise tag window begins tomorrow, if Tannehill is back, I think Brady returning is a near lock.

And I would probably think the Titans wait until the last possible minute to make a decision, as they’d want to know if Brady’s interest in them is serious before they commit to Tannehill.

so Brady's alternative is to join a new team where he would have to put in extra time w/ new receivers, young receivers, etc. Gotcha
Tom Curran makes the same point as you in his latest:
Curran: Amendola heading back to Lions sends a signal

I’ll say I find Curran’s most recent articles (last few weeks) very interesting. We know he’s very plugged into someone on Brady’s side, and we also know he has the ear of the Patriots historically. A lot of his recent articles tend to have the tone (to me, at least) of, “yeah, we know it’s not 100% perfect for you here, but do you *really* want to go somewhere else? Is the grass *really* greener elsewhere?” Many of these articles come across to me as Curran basically saying he has info that Brady’s really seriously considering leaving, and Curran is trying to talk him into staying.

Ravens may franchise Tag judon!

I hope the new CBA eliminates all tags. Players better push for it.

Or Agents for rookies should negotiate that in their initial contract specifically high 1st rounders.

Doubtful the players will get tags out. Never should have let it into the CBA.

No tag for Hooper, reportedly.

I’m amazed that the falcons continue to dodge cap hell . They only have 4 million in cap space. Are they gonna clear up space for hooper? A team with crappy cap management should be not able to get away with stuff like that.

We should tag thuney then trade him or sign him long term.

Tag and trade almost never happens (on purpose). In fact, it's explicitly against the rules to franchise tag with the intention of moving the player immediately. As far as I can tell, the only recent example would be Clowney last year, and I wouldn't say that was a "tag and trade" given the Texans kept him through the preseason.

They are in cap hell. They’re a bad team with no flexibility, and they’re likely to get even worse.

My new hot take on where Brady could go:

Dallas Cowboys!

He’d have 5 prime time games for announcers to talk about his TB12 nonsense.

He’d have many national afternoon games as Fox is the official channel of “America’s Team”.

He’d have many sit down interviews with Erin Andrews who gets wet talking to star QB’s, specifically Aaron Rodgers. Now that she has access to Tom Brady, who can use this to talk about his “pliability”, it would be Niagara Falls down there for her.

They have an insane O-line, devastating ground game and Jerry will have some pull to get AB back in the league and join the Cowboys.

Get your popcorn ready!

Yep! That's been my theory this off season, (except for the Niagara Falls part ).

The idea was a good one. The execution of the idea has not. But they could fix the problem by limiting the tag. A franchise tag should automatically be a no-trade contract, and it should only be able to be used once on a player.

Teams where in all likelihood bids will come in:

  • Raiders
  • Bucs
  • Titans?
  • Chargers?

If it’s money I say it the Raiders. If surrounding talent I’d say the Titans (considering they re-sign Henry) and Bucs. I feel like the Chargers will likely lose a lot of their pieces and possibly go into rebuild mode.
