Not sure if it was posted here, but someone floated the idea of the Pats trading for Cooper Kupp. Would be a one year rental, but at just $1.2 million against the cap. If you're going to go all-in with Brady, this would seem to be THE move to get there

Why one year? Sign the beast!

I wouldn’t mind a Chandler Jones type player dropping down to late round 1. Pats really need a true pass rusher. Run stuffer as well.

Green seems like he has Joe Thomas disease as I wouldn’t be shocked if he stayed there.
I have my eyes on Yetur Gross-Matos, the DE from Penn State as far as a Jones type of player. I've seen at least one mock having him go to us at #23. I have zero problem with that, as long as TE and WR are addressed in FA and in round 3. If they took Matos in round one, then draft TEs & WR in round 3, double up on TE (WR, TE & TE). The WR class is way deeper, so they can pick a 2nd receiver in round 4. They must come out of this offseason with speed added to the offense.

I prefer WR Jalen Reagor in round 1, he's exactly the kind of weapon this offense needs, basically a Tyreek Hill clone, but bigger. Excellent return man as well (especially punt returns). He SHOULD be there at #23, unless teams panic with a WR run in the first.

Can we go all-in on the next 3 Brady years and not just 2020

Agree 100%, want them to go all in EVERY year. Brady or not. But cap reasons and draft currency reasons may be difficult to achieve that this year.

"Snacks" Harrison getting released.

....BB...?

Redskins rumored to be cutting tight end reed.

Harrison and Reed would both be players that the Patriots would likely have at least some interest in. Both could price themselves out of the Patriots range, though.

That 2000 team was really bad and 2001 didn’t look much different before Brady started playing. Would BB have benched $100M Bledsoe had they kept losing? I don’t think Kraft would’ve allowed it which would’ve hurt BB’s chances of staying as the HC. Coaches eventually get fired over bad QB play.

On paper the 2001 team was much more talented than the 2000 team.

BB had a garage sale in 2000 to get out of inherited cap hell. Then began to build the O-line in 2000 drafting Randall and signing Andruzzi. In 2001 he solidified the O-line drafting Brock Williams and Matt Light. He also began building the defensive line.

2001 free agent signings: defensive back, Terrell Buckley, guard Mike Compton, linebacker Bryan Cox, fullback Marc Edwards, linebacker Larry Izzo, receiver David Patten, linebacker Roman Phifer, defensive end Anthony Pleasant, running back Antowain Smith, and linebacker Mike Vrabel.

2001 draft picks: DL, Richard Seymour, OL, Matt Light, CB Brock Williams, OT, Kenyatta Jones, CB, Leonard Meyers

BB hit the lottery on Brady. Had he not been drafted, BB would’ve been gone within 1-2 years after he started 5-13. There’s absolutely no argument that Brady didn’t start this machine.

For argument purposes let's say in 2000 Drew Bledsoe played for Green Bay and Brett Farve played for the Patriots. Take it a step further and say in 2000 Tom Brady was drafted by GB and Aaron Rodgers was drafted by the Patriots (remember...hypothetical). All other players and coaches throughout the years are the same. Mike Sherman coach of GB and BB coach of the Pats to start the 2001 season.

Who wins more championships in that span under this scenario, the Patriots or the Packers?

Patriots

You have all coaches and former players saying BB is the Goat coach people who think otherwise are crazy.
Imagine if he was the Goat talent evaluator we would
Go undefeated every season.
Too bad he couldn't get Ozzie Newsome for the job. Newsome had too much power for him to reunite with BB.

He has the advantage of the most other teams this year. An extra month to prepare for the draft.

I couldn't agree more. And it's not just the X's and O's. It's his entire overall system. He could be the CIO of many non-football related companies. His attention to detail is second to none. BB is not replaceable.

The 2001 team was A LOT more talented that fans give them credit for.

Many people on this board are relatively new Pats fans who joined in the past 10 years...

I would give snacks a look. He had a down year this season. Don’t know why. He was a beast though in the 3-4 defense. He has been playing a lot more 4-3 recently. Dealt with injuries in 2019 but when healthy very good.
