The defensive line is not that strong. A lot of the success there is because the secondary gets lots of coverage sacks and allows them to stack the box.

LBs are strong but losing Van Noy would sting. I think the Pats will go pretty hard after Van Noy and may just pay market. IMO that makes more sense than bringing in a high priced FA for the front 7/6. LB with low sack totals are relatively undervalued by the market, whereas d-linemen of any kind are not. I think they re-sign Van Noy unless a team is stupid and offers some Bobby Wagner deal for a player who isn’t Bobby Wagner. Jets (lol) threw the market of of whack with the Moseley deal.
I’m not comfortable
Going higher than 8 mill a season makes me uncomfortable

Moseley got over $16M last year, so I’d expect $8M wouldn’t get it done. And of course the guaranteed and contract language is always the hangup for the Patriots with free agents. If they can sign him for a Patriots type deal in the $9-11M range I think it’s a good deal for them.

Maybe Seymour talks Belichick up enough to make Williams take less

Williams has been a bust.

No, he can still play. He was just over-drafted by the Jets.

I wouldn’t say over-drafted, if you look at his stats they are solid. He’s your typical 3-4 DE like Seymour was. Not massive sack numbers but the tape does the talking. I will have a look at some games of his and see if there’s a reason why he’s struggled recently. Could be a number of things, scheme fit, players around him..

Besides fixing our garbage offense, a big dlinemen is necessary. Rewatch the Titans game and watch only Wise. He is destroyed in the run game and is basically why the Titans had early success. We held them to 14 which should be enough with any competent offense, but if we had benched Wise who knows...maybe a shutout.

It's not Wise's fault that he is undersized. Not everyone can be Trey Flowers.

Offense really needs to be fixed. And really that if Brady departs, and if Stidham can't deliver, then they could have a QB drafted. But still it is a wait and see approach.

fixing the defensive line is a priority and can be accomplished in three steps:

1.) resign Shelton. Should be a reasonable contract.

2.) sign defensive end Robinson formerly of Detroit. Coming off a down year, he should not break the bank and he will excel in our defense.

3.) draft Davis of Alabama and Foku of Utah in the third round.

The Patriots really can't do anything until after the Brady situation is dealt with. There just isn't the cap space to be talking about $8-10 Million/year contracts until they know what they have left. The longer Brady stays unsigned, the harder it's going to be to figure out next year's free agent signings. I really hope they get Brady's situation figured out by the beginning of the legal tampering period (March 16th) but I don't think that's going to happen.

I can see us go for one of them (Davis or Fotu) but both I don't know. They are true run stuffer with just little Pass Rush. I think with a new DE and one of them our run defense could be fine. Instead of both I hope we will go for an LB who can rush the Passer and play some Coverage. Our Secondary needs a good Pass Rush and both (run defense and Pass Rush) needs improvement with KVN possibly gone..

Kenneth Murray would be a great addition to the LB core as would Zack Baun too

We should sign EVERY free agent that commands 10+ mil a year bc there is no salary cap right? Did ****dell switch the salary cap off in madden? :p:p:p

Totally agree
Had murray in every mock draft simulator I did. He would be a greate replacement for our LB FA. When we trade down Murray will be probably gone but Baun and Uche would be good as well. Both versality (sorry if I don’t know how to write it right ) can rush the passer play against the run and can drop in coverage. And most thing I like is that they have speed. Compared to a disruptor at DL and resigning DMac and our defense could be fine. This would give us some free cap space for our zero explossivenese offense hopefully

I read that, and my first response was: if Seymour is the DL godfather, why isn't he working with players like Adam "Clemenza" Butler or Byron "Tessio" Cowart?

Mayo is coaching the defense. Brown is coaching receivers. Even if not a formal role, if Seymour is interested why aren't the Patriots reaching out to Seymour? Yeah, the defense has evolved a bit, but Seymour isn't coaching hand placement; he's coaching player excellence.

My only concern with UCHE is at the moment a pure pass rusher in a 3-4 whereas the other two can play 3-4/4-3 as well as sub packages
