Cannon wasn't great this year to say the least but he's better than anyone else on the team right now at RT. Looking for a bounce back year from him.

Wish it were true...

Nice, but I'd rather see the all-white's uni

Busting out my handy-dandy Antonio Brown tracking radar...

Call it rumor, or reporting, or whatever, but Curran has a new Brady piece out today.

So where do things currently stand? After conversations over the past few days, this is my understanding of where things are.

Negotiations will begin "in a couple of weeks." I interpret that as during or immediately after the NFL Combine which starts about February 26 and concludes March 1.

My understanding is that the Patriots aren’t worried about other team’s financial pitches. Their business with Brady revolves around the direction of the 2020 offensive personnel, Brady getting some input on that and Brady’s role in the team’s future. They aren’t going to be super-vigilant about tampering.

Something worth noting is there is very little rancor right now. The situation is what it is. The sides are going to work to make it work.

Curran: Where we stand and what's next

Personally, and this is just based on why not allowing the franchise tag made the most sense from a Brady perspective, I can see some of that missing rancor showing up once it comes to the number of real years on the deal. Curran seems to be underplaying that, to my eyes.

But time will tell.

I always liked the old plastic-y numbers many teams used to wear. Not the cloth patch type numbers they have today. I'm talking old school.

For sure! Remember going to games at the old stadium and that plastic stuff stood out. Especially when Dan Marino and the Dolphins came to town with those huge teal numbers. Always thought it was awesome and was something you couldn’t see on tv.

I dunno. I think when Newhouse moved to RT he played pretty well. At LT,

You’re right, though. A bounce back year from Cannon would be great. With Scar and Thuney leaving, continuity matters even more.

He got beat alot off the edge. Brady had no time.

He got beat inside quite a few times too. Probably his worst year as a Patriot.

So a real source... for news that isn’t real? o_O

i prefer the "My aunt has a friend who used to work at Patriot Place and knows the janitor, who heard..." source.

The way Cannon played last season he looked retired already.
This news will shock you, so you might want to take a seat...

...he was injured.

Yeah, his play has been erratic as a Pat.

Cannon was outstanding last year. In 2016, he was a turnstyle vs the Broncos.

Cannon is one of those guys that when healthy is a beast.

but an injury, any type injury (even a hangnail) and he is horrible.

the needle is either all the way up or all the way down, no middle ground with him.

I think we need to see some cap savings with him, one way or the other.
