OT: Astros caught cheating to win their title!

Exactly. “No we didnt” was the correct answer. Not this.

If this were an episode of Forensic Files, AJ would've been the guilty boyfriend in the interrogation room...

Knowing what pitch is coming didn’t impact the game? o_O

I think the Astros are handling this PR a lot worse than saying deflator means you are losing weight.

I don’t see MLB taking the title away, it’s tainted already and they can’t call themselves champs for that reason.

But since Altuve admitted he cheated maybe they can strip his MVP away.

“When the Patriots were taping the Rams practice...” Really? Cmon Curt. o_O

Funny that this would come up here. I just finished relating a story on the football forum about an Astros fan that I heard this morning who was trying to compare their cheating to the Pats taping the Rams walk-through back in 2002. That, and Mortenson's phony deflation numbers, really shows the true power of the press.

So MLB commissioner says he weighed the idea of stripping their title but decided against it basically because of the perception that it is tainted anyway.

If someone spills the beans about the buzzers he’ll have no choice.

They should strip the Astros of a title as soon as they do a rectal exam on every team in MLB and ensure they haven’t broken the rules either. I see the Yankees are still playing the victim card even though Carlos Beltran was clearly cheating for them and Cora basically called him out publicly.

This is what always happens in sports. The team that wins gets a cavity search while people assume that every other team is above the fray. They limit their investigation only to the victors. This happens in the NCAA all the time and happened the Patriots twice. Why stop your investigation with a couple of teams? We know Beltrán went to the Yankees and other guys around the league outside the Astros have been suspected of dirty tactics. IMO the Yankees and Dodgers whining and crying is more despicable than a team taking advantage of an edge that MLB clearly didn’t do much to prevent. I hate sore losers.

This reminds me of the scene in all the presidents men where the guy’s being interviewed, I forgot who exactly, but he was talking about how thousands of leads were followed up and thousands of people were questioned, but he didn’t actually answer the question. In that scene, the interviewer followed up and asked him directly again and he said yeah I don’t know. So the guy here should’ve followed up too. What a joke.

Seems legit.

It’s getting tough to make an argument why their title shouldn’t be vacated.

I’m sure I’m in the minority here, but I hope the Astros win 100+ games again. This scandal is everything wrong with society, and as a Patriots fan I am particularly disgusted by it.

  • There seems to be very little edge actually gained by doing this, as many have analyzed it hoping to find some tremendous statistical advantage and have found mere argumentative small sample sizes and weak anecdotal evidence. I mean, sure, there must have been times when the advantage helped, but it seems to be fractional to what is perceived.
  • I really hate how the only two teams being investigated are the two World Series winners. It’s pathetic and furthers the loser culture of hating winning teams. Other teams have been accused of sign stealing too, but you only “DESTROY THE INTEGRITY OF THE GAME!” if you’re a champion.
  • Among those other teams are the despicable Yankees, who clearly had their own sign stealing system with Beltran before he went to the Astros. It’s unbelievable how the Yankees are the most vocal critics even though it’s very obvious they bent the rules as much as possible. The entire organization - owner, coaches, players - are screaming victim. They should get a cavity search too.
  • MLB knew this was an issue for years and stupidly allowed access to the center field camera. Don’t blame a team that exploited it well versus others who attempted to, but failed to, exploit it well. MLB is 99% to blame for being stupid enough to have an honor system to prevent this. How much would have cost to put one security guard or one independent MLB official in that center field booth every game?

So far this season after the Astros were caught and punished for cheating:
Altuve .174
Bregman .174
Springer .048

Probably a weird coincidence. :headscratch:

Brantley .435

Dude, it's 6 games into the season. Altuve and Bregman both have a better average at the moment than the reigning NL MVP. Is it time for the Dodger to trade Cody Bellinger for anything they can get?
