Will anyone watch the XFL this weekend?

I want to go to a rodeo and say to everyone I encounter that “it’s not my first rodeo” until someone beats me up.

Nope. It will die a horrible death like the previous leagues (USFL, XFL, UFL, AFL, AAF).

Unless they do some WWF in the mix with the reboot-XFL...

No, they are doing the right thing. The reality show, phony WWF style is not a mix with football. They are likely to fail but could potentially become a minor league for guys that just missed the 53 or ineligible college grads. The issue is they don’t have much time. Money gets burned through like gasoline to support this, and the returns are slow to develop.

Looking for a team to root for. I really like New York’s logo but I refuse to root for a NY team.

I'm leaning towards St. Louis.

Like their name, logo, and uniforms. That, and I feel bad for the fans there after they lost the Rams.

I am enjoying the XFL a lot!

Sign the beast Matthew McCrane the kicker!!!

Bill Belichick will be watching. Looking for someone to pull off the scrap heap to sign.
Must be tough on the pro scouting departments whose workload just increased.

I was working during both of the games yesterday. From what I've watched today it's been enjoyable. The live mics are pretty cool and it's worked well when the CFL has had games up here like that.

I like it so far. No its not the NFL but its going to help me get through the offseason. Love the review process butI don't like the interviews with players while plays are going on....reminds me of the pro bowl.

What if it's a NY logo, but the team plays in Jersey?

Who is the coach that looks just like Jerry Springer?

Honestly,
it was not bad. I know....low bar but the games held my interest. The big issue is names. They will die without names.
Sign:
Luck (why not)
Manziel
Kap if he shuts his mouth and dumps lovely better half
Bradford
Dez Bryant
AB
Baldwin
Chancellor
Dwight Freeney
Winston
Mariota
Easley
Bortles
Buccanon
E.J. Manuel
Tavon Austin
Milliner
Taco Charlton
Shane Ray etc.
And then raid the FA after the first days of big bucks passes the "gold diggers" by.
Limit it to two or three top names per Team.
Could you pay Gronk enough?
Yes, some are aged for sure but a season or two?
More scoring wins fans.

The Washington Post gave a big write-up to the inaugural XFL game in DC played in the new 20,000 seat soccer stadium built for DC United. Turns out that the DC Defenders beat the Seattle Dragons (coached by former Redskins coach Jim Zorn) and managed to fill more than 17,000 seats. According to the article, most of those attending were happy with the XFL product. Of course, Dan Snyder's slow motion destruction of the Washington NFL franchise has set the appreciation bar pretty low.

I didn't care for the AAF or the original version of the XFL but I kind of enjoyed watching the LA vs Houston game. I would certainly watch other games.

The audio was far superior to the NFL I liked hearing the audio real time rather then having to wait for it to be released like in the NFL.
It was kind of fun to hear the play call on offense and see the play run. I liked having the camera in the replay booth and hearing the interaction between the replay booth and the referee.

No PAT but the option to go for 1,2 or 3 points after the TD was interesting. The kick-offs were interesting with the new formation and the rules favor putting the ball into play. On punts the gunners can't leave until the ball is punted so less fair catching.

Offense seems pretty much the same as the NFL other then you only need 1 foot in bounds on a catch rather then 2. Defense seems pretty much the same as the NFL.

As for the quality of play it kind of reminded me of preseason NFL games. Yet we can root for HS games and College games and even not so great NFL teams and still have fun.

There is a passion for the game the comes though to the viewer on the audio. A couple of my favorite moments when LA was in Houston territory and it was 4th down and the coach sent in the kicking team and the QB went nuts, he wanted to go for it. You can hear him on the field and then arguing with the coach and afterwards saying to the coach. "I'm a lawyer, I like to argue" The other was an Edelman like receiver that went up to catch a well thrown ball over one defender and in front of the other knowing he was going to get hammered. On the sideline he was interviewed and he was asked by the sideline reporter why he would put his body though that knowing that he has already suffered serious injuries in the past. He said he loved the game and as a former QB he knew that QBs loved receivers that go get the ball.

Favorite moment from the weekend... Marquette King hits a perfect punt, which is knocked into the end zone by former Patriot Steve Beauharnais. Pat McAfee nearly had an aneurysm.

McAfee then goes and interviews Beauharnais to figure out exactly what he was doing.

My son and I enjoyed it. Reminded me of the USFL which I loved when I was a kid. Game was faster paced and the booth reviews were completely transparent where you could actually hear what they were discussing. The NFL drastically needs that rather than trying to decipher how much NY is trying to screw you.

Vince McMahon is obviously doing this with NFL cooperation. They are going to use it as a testing ground for rule changes and as a way to keep a pool of guys in shape and getting paid a little in the meantime. They interviewed Troy Aikman at one game and that’s definitely the impression I got. NFL is supporting this because they think there is money to be made.

I couldn’t give a **** less about other sports so spring time football? Count me in.

We have a team down in Tampa so I’m gonna go check out a game with my son.

They’d tank their target audience they need in order to get off the mat in year one immediately if they sign Kaepernick.
