A variable here is whether or not the NFL will settle the Pats grievances regarding the recovery of money allotted to Hernandez and AB...

An extra $9 or $12 million could make quite a difference when they tweek this team this season..

OTOH the NFL may deliberately drag their heels on these deliberations..
 
I would love Stephon Diggs but there is no way the Patriots could afford him.

I don’t necessarily advise for paying this type of money for Wr, but it’s not impossible to fit diggs, or Beckham jr for that matter, into our cap situation.

I’m guessing that the Hernandez situation may be easier than the Brown situation, but that’s just me. Hopefully, they’ll win one of them.
 
Because they are the Patriots and the league office makes them play by a different set of rules.
I believe independent arbitrators are making those decisions.
