Sammy Watkins?

On a pass heavy team that has Tyreek Hill and Travis Kelce pulling 98% of the defensive attention, Watkins was "okay" catching passes even with an all-world QB. On top of that, he seems to believe he's worth a lot of money. I don't feel comfortable with any part of that combination.

Hes on the KC payroll for 14M.

They won't pay him that so would he take 7M per? Maybe but its still too much money for a guy who disappeared in games last year. Big game vs Jax for 198 yards and 2 more 100 yard games.

No to Watkins. Go out and draft a AJ Brown who racked up more production than Watkins for pennies on the dollar. KC is moving on with Hardman if Watkins doesn't come cheap.

It's time to draft some young fast WRs who can do more for the team other than sitting in a whirlpool tub instead of chasing other teams castaway FAs.

If watkins wants to stay in KC he will need to take a haircut ... they have no cap space and he was overpaid by them because they were idiots who over rated his abilities ...

but i never said they would pay watkins what he thinks he is worth ... however, bringing back danny amendola shoud be a non starter as well ... amendola is basically a 3-4 catch per game guy who basically falls forward for 3 yards after a catch these days... horrible yac ... means he is slow and gets tackled right away... the Pats need someone who can move the ball downfield ... Watkins at 8/9m a year (not that he would take it) is better than amendola at 4m a year

He's a burner that disappears during games and sometimes during weeks in the season. WR3 tops.

I'd take Amendola over Watkins every time even if the money was the same.

Amendola comes prepackaged with the whole fit/chemistry/scheme/same-page completely solved. I wonder that is worth to the Patriots FO.

It has to be and I wish it would have been a couple of years ago.

Would you take $4,000,000 less to call yourself a #1 receiver?

And in what bizarre scenario is he negotiating his price down so he can push his perceived depth spot up?

Yes, I would. I honestly don’t believe I’m worth 12 million, but I’ll get by.

I have always been a Dola supporter, but he is one player who I think never wants to play for Belichick again.

With what terms? Cooks is due a $4 million bonus on March 20 and then a $8 million salary. Do you trade for the full $12 million cap hit? I can’t imagine the Rams are overly willing to take on any of that to facilitate a trade when they’d already be eating $17.8 million in dead money.

I loved the Cooks trade when they first got him, but I was really disappointed in his route running. He basically had two routes, go deep, and stop and come back to the QB. He could have been special had he developed his routes the way AB did.

I'd pass on Watkins, would definitely prefer Amendola who knows our system and is super clutch.

He's now super old WR wise that ship has already sailed.

I'd feel hesitant if they signed him for HALF of his average salary ($16m).

Give me Amendola at $4.5m per. He's got another season or 2 in him. He just put up 62 receptions, 678 yards with the LIONS, which rival his best season in NE.

Amendola and Edelman for a last year or two with Brady makes sense. The team should know about Brady at least a week before the new season starts. If Brady is here, Amendola MIGHT come.

He's under contract for 2020, and I've not heard more than that, beyond him acknowledging that the Chiefs might ask him to take a pay cut. What am I missing?

Didn't he say he might sit out 2020?

Not seeing alot of free agent options and I'm terrified of the draft.
Still think if Brady stays they try to trade back for Cooks.
It could be similar to the deion branch situation

Never ever got the vibe that Brady was all that high on Cooks.

Come on, Bill. Throw in a carport and get this deal done.

Regards,
Chris

Pats need a true #1 and he ain’t it.

Hell yeah! He'll be the #1 here easily given the current choices.

He’s not a #1 period. Watkins is only useful if there are better options around him that draw the attention away from him. He’s a waste of money.

I would love to see Amendola return, I just don’t believe he would play for Belichick again.
