$30m for Brady as per Rap

He’s not going to the F-n Raiders.

my lord they are worst run franchise in sports.
Easy friend. Please don't forget : the League has two teams in Ohio.

CBA question — for contracts signed in the final year of the CBA can you amortize guarantees past the end of the current CBA (i.e. can a 2020 contract have fake years that go beyond the end of the CBA)? I imagine you can but would like to know for sure.

Hard to know what Belichick is thinking but if he gives Brady a 2-3 year deal this offseason, it sure makes the prior offseason (and the 1-year deal) look like a bit of a mistake, IMO.

If BB is willing to extend Brady through 44-45, then the 1-year deal last year presumably served only to see if Brady still "had it" and realistically could play for another several seasons.

I get wanting to be conservative in these situations, but was there ever any doubt Tom could do this?

A few more bucks sure but I don’t believe for a second it’s $30m.

I do NOT believe that Brady will play for the patriots for less than $30M guaranteed for 2020 services. It could be a 3 year contract with a $21M bonus and a $10M salary, but he will get $30M or play elsewhere, at least IMO.

Year 2 might include a roster bonus before the season starts and a total of $30M between the bonus and Brady's salary.

This heavy discounts are done. Brady will earn $30M for his 2020 services, in NE or elsewhere.

I can tell you living in Northern VA there is a team in "Washington DC" aka Maryland that would very much like to get in this conversation.

I'm not sure whether this report is a smokescreen to save face or real negotiations. If you look at what NFL QBs get, $30m isn't ridiculous, even for a 43 y/o QB. Guys like Goff, Wentz, and Big Ben make more than $30m per. I'd rather have Brady, though I don't see how they can "get him weapons" and pay him $30m+.
The cap hit would be about $20M. There is room to give him weapons, just not $15M AAV receivers. But then, the patriots have never signed $15M AAV receivers.

If it's real money without large parts being incentives I'd let him go at that money.
$30M seems steep. Does not leave the Pats that much to spend on the rest of the team.

The "If they sign Brady for big money, they wont' have any money left for the rest of the team" has been debunked about a million times. It leaves plenty of money. Furthermore, we just had a big money QB lose the SB. And a look at the 2019 playoff QBs beyond JAG shows, in the NFC

Rodgers
Brees
Wilson
Cousins
Wentz

as big money QBs on playoff teams. In other words, every single NFC QB was a big money QB. People here have gotten so brainwashed by first looks at deals that they ignore the reality that Brady hasn't been playing on rookie contract level money. Brady's been taking less, but he hasn't been taking backup money, or anything like that.

Id love to be a fly on the wall of BB's office right now just to hear what his plans are.

Brady is worth it, problem is they won’t be able to fix any holes in the roster with the remaining cap if they pay him that much. Why would he want to come back to the Pats with a bunch of scrubs again? Sure they could probly win the division and earn at least 1 home game in playoffs, but without a major overhaul of their offense they’ll be sent home packing again

Two other observations, by the way:

The holes the Chargers have to fix (on offense) are cheaper than New England's. They've got the glamor spots and need to fix their OL.

And, if he still thinks he's on top, Brady has to believe that he could get back with the Chargers. They have a lot of talent.

Hate to say it, particularly out loud, but to keep Brady (if the weapons' rumors are true), the Pats might have to re-sign AB - there's no one else that I see with that kind of talent that would excite him (maybe Manny Sanders?). BB and Kraft wouldn't much like that, if the guy is even cleared to play.

Then again, KC has four guys who have done as bad or worse than AB, and they're playing today.

Oh, and Kobe Bryant raped a woman and is heralded as a god-figure...

Sometimes, I just shake my head.

Still on the Antonio Brown train despite all the recent reports? Guy is nuttier than Chinese chicken salad, it would be unwise to invest any more time or money than they already have on him.

he’s totally out of his mind and his own agent just dropped him as a client. He’s facing potential assault charges too, so that should be the end of any “Sign AB” talk

Good luck with that

Never been on it - can't stand the guy. But I noticed a very big difference in Brady's attitude after his departure. All I'm doing is expressing a fear that that's part of brady's negotiating position.

Gotta figure that any push to bring Brown back, whether by Brady, by BB, or by both, died with the season.
