$30m for Brady as per Rap

Can you believe everyone who is against keeping Brady openly seems to push that this team isn’t a contender anyway? Then that would be exactly why you’d want him as a bridge QB, while in the process setting and extending NFL records that will last forever. You couldn’t find Yankees fans who were against bringing back Jeter despite his decline...could you imagine him getting his 3,000th hit with the Detroit Tigers? Or Lakers fans complaining about Kobe being around for an extra year or two despite being overpaid. This is totally baffling.

Unless you're going to give us a better option, I really cant see your point.
Stidham or Mariota with cap used to strengthen tight end O line and keep Collins and Devin Mccourty.
trade Stephen Gilmore I know I know draft multiple receivers lock up JC Jackson long term.
Sign Matt Breida.
Go after Boston Scott from Philly I’m willing to pay him top 20 back money.
He would be perfect for this offense much more than Sony Michel is.
This team needs to get younger and more athletic on offense we have no explosiveness at receiver.
Brady has shown time and time again he doesn’t have time or patience to develop young receivers.
Bringing back AB and maybe trading for Cooks would be the only move if we are staying Pat with Brady

So yesterday Krafty Bob is on tape saying he hopes Brady comes back, ball is in Brady's court...today Rappaport says Pats willing to go up to $30M...this is 100% PR, straight out of the Larry Luchino playbook..."hey, we offered Tom $30M...he chose to go to San Diego"..... Krafty Bob, media spinmeister....

If there was a shot at Brady coming back I doubt Krafty Bob would show his hand....this is a PR move plain simple

I dont know about stidham but I would pay hundreds of dollars to see the rise and fall of the Patriots dynasty documentary in 10 years just to see the chapter in it whete bill dropped brady for Mariota to save what is likely in the neighborhood of only 10 mil.

Belechick isnt God and people really should think about what they're asking him to accomplish in the absence of brady

Holy ****.

Stidham or Mariota? Like that’s the same thing in terms of cap space. And why on earth would you take Mariota for $20-25M instead of Brady?

Matt Breida is a nonsensical fit who works perfectly in the outside zone attack scheme specific to the 49ers and a few other schemes. Cut and speed run back. So take the savings you got with Mariota to pay big for a free agent RB who doesn’t even fit scheme, not to mention pay scale for RBs?

Then sign another free agent RB with idiotic RB money instead of getting a similar player with a 4th round pick (and there are already 2 RBs from last two drafts on roster.)

You’re seriously embarrassing the Patriots fanbase with your ridiculous takes about Brady. If you don’t want him, fine. Stop using absurd reasons for justifying your emotional hissy fit about the guy.

If brady turns down 30 million dollars, per season or for a single season, not one person here will blame kraft or bill.

PR or not, Brady cant turn down that kind of money from the Pat's and hope to walk away the hero of this story.

Just because it is PR doesn't mean it is a bad idea. It may be from the Lucchino playbook but I gotta tell you, it is very wise on the part of Kraft to make sure Patriots fans know they tried to bring Brady back.

If Brady goes elsewhere, it will be very bad for the Patriots if they look like they didn't treat him respectfully and fairly.

Sure, $30mill a year leaves little to no room to add weapons on offense (whether it be solidifying the OL, or WR and TE) but the poor drafting at the latter two positions certainly doesn’t help the fact they’re in that position where it has to be allocated to proven talent from other teams.

trade Stephen Gilmore I know I know draft multiple receivers lock up JC Jackson long term.
Oh yeah. Sure. That's a great idea. Trade the defensive player of the year who we have locked up for 2 more years at great money.

You know what? I think they should just cut him outright. They have an "out" on Gilmore this season and he has clearly peaked. That way you can give the cap savings to Mariota. </sarcasm>

They can structure it so that there is plenty of remaining cap space to add weapons.

Mariota May come super cheap to redeem himself like between 5 to 10 mill

According to Miguel Benzan's 2020 cap page at the Boston Sports Journal, if you count Brady's number toward 2020, the Patriots are left with just over $21 million in cap space. That's with key pieces like Devin McCourty, Joe Thuney, and Kyle Van Noy also headed for the open market. In the case of Thuney and Van Noy, their markets should be large.

Rapoport also says Brady is really going to want a "commitment from [the Patriots] that they will specifically spend on weapons."

NOTE: This is the KEY --> Brady is asking for WEAPONS. Not JAGS!

Keep going...your takes just keep getting more and more fascinating.

Mariota may just take 20-25% of the amount he could get with another team.

Trade Stephon Gilmore, immediately use the cap savings to extend JC Jackson two years before his contract is up, to a $12M deal ($1M less than Gilmore.). Draft two wide receivers.

Did you find the key to the cabinet below the kitchen sink?

Pretty much this. There isn't a single Laker's fan that regrets Kobe stying on two years to finish up. Meanwhile 49'ers fans got a Super Bowl out of Young and this week is still a bit of a painful reminder that Montana finished up with another team. Packers fans got Rodgers and there is still a sting that Farve wore a purple uniform, and every Colts fan in the world wishes Peyton Manning's legacy was solely tied to their franchise.

If you think the Patriots aren't a contender then losing Brady and having QB be a questionmark is the completely counterproductive

Kraft and Patriots Translation App

1. "Its up to Tom, we certainly hope so"- "When Tom signs with the chargers or raiders its all on him, we really tried hard, but Tom just wanted to play elsewhere"

2. "Patriots will offer up to 30 million+ to Brady to stay"- Patriots spent up to the maximum any team should be expected to pay for a 43 year old QB

Reading the tea leaves, it seems the Pats are preparing Pats nation for Patriots departure in UFA and heading off potential blame for letting their GOAT walk. They are trying to shield BB from blame when TB leaves

If they really wanted to keep Tom:

1. I think Kraft would say- He is our greatest player of all time and our unquestioned leader, we will do everything we can to resign him.

2. Do not let the 30 million story leak out. Do not negotiate in public. Do it quietly behind the scenes.

Whichever way this goes if brady stays or goes I just hope there is enough cash in the bank to pay everyone :eek:

Curran: There's no perfect landing spot for Brady
nick hardwick explains why the chargers makes no sense to him.
Also Mcginest said that Gisele doesnt LA , they had a home there which they sold.

You will notice, I hope, that I specified from THEIR (Chargers') perspective and BRADY'S perspective.

I even capitalized THEIR and BRADY'S.

It makes perfect sense to me that the Chargers will try hard to get Brady. That doesn't mean they get him.

You'd trade the DPOY - at corner, no less - to save 3 million $$$ and eat a 15million dead cap hit?

I don't get this logic.

Stephon Gilmore
