Well deserved and a really big honor. Voters made the right decision.

Congratulations to him. Well deserved !

Love Gilmore and LOL at Bills fans for saying we got ripped off.
He’s a technical genius and hands down the best man to man corner maybe ever.
The game against Parker the whole team was off.
Interestingly enough Parker was the one WR Belichick was very interested in.
Parker is a stud and his star is only shining brighter.

Building a solid resume for the HOF. 1 more all pro and a couple more pro bowls and it could be first ballot.

If Edgerrin James is in, Gilmore is already first ballot unanimous.

My favorite:

Most important player besides TB this past season. Well deserved

Oh, how unfair!!!

Steelers LB T.J. Watt gets snubbed for DPOY

Meanwhile, Pittsburgh Steelers linebacker T.J. Watt, who dominated last season gets snubbed. Watt was the best all-around defender in the league, equally as adept at rushing the passer as he was dropping into coverage or creating turnovers as a run stuffer.

Gilmore had a good season, no denying that.
But if you look at the numbers, Pittsburgh’s own Steven Nelson was just as good if not better in some categories.

Kind of sad how we had the DPOY and a historically great defense yet somehow went 4-5 and died quietly after Halloween.

Offense driven league.

All Patriots needed to be was about average on offense but were far from that down the stretch. This was their worst offense under Brady. 2006 or 2013 offense is at least in the AFCCG and maybe playing tomorrow.

Defenses help to win championships but can’t win games against elite teams on its own, with the exception of a few outliers.

An offseason isn't complete without Steeler fan tears.

Remember when people were complaining Belichick gave Gilmore a near top of the market contract and let Malcolm Butler walk? Gilmore turned out to be one of the best free agent picks up of the Belichick era.

Reports were that he would not be outbid. Pretty amazing move. The Patriots identified the next Darrelle Revis, despite his film being available to every team. And not only Revis 2.0, but a guy entering his prime for five year deal...and that was just two years after they passed on extending Revis 1.0 for being too expensive and entering his decline. This type of scouting and market analysis is just incredible; I just figured before Belichick signed him that he’d be yet another disappointing CB who would get overpaid since all the real elite CBs would be tagged or extended.

And it took him 4 games to find his game, there were complaints here about the signing but he shut us the hell up.

My DPOY ballot this year:

1. Stephon Gilmore
2. Tre’Davious White

No one was even close to those two. I am happy for Gilmore, but it took much attention and focus on him being DPOY, and it’s disappointing this will likely be another fluke season where a CB wins the award followed by ten pass rushers. I mean, everyone knows that Revis and Sherman were the two most valuable defenders in the first half of the decade but neither won it.

Still don’t understand how Chandler Jones has 14 votes here and T. White isn’t even listed as getting a vote. Buffalo defense was elite because of White. Cardinals defense was way below average and these sacks are virtually meaningless.

Most of the the voters don’t seem to grasp the basic tenets of the DPOY award. You wouldn’t give the MVP vote to a guy leading the 24th best offense, and you shouldn’t give a DPOY vote for a defensive guy leading the 24th best defense, but that is pretty common. I think this is why Sherman and Revis were really campaigning for Gilmore. Defensive backs are so underrated because the stats usually aren’t sexy, but having a shutdown corner shows up in points/yards allowed and other team stats.
