So this got me thinking, would it be possible for the Krafts to cut a deal with either Brady or a Belichick or both to bring them in as minority owners? Say, sell them 10% of the franchise? With a solid buy-back clause, of course. I would think a good team of corporate and tax attorneys and accountants could make a very interesting package around a leveraged option structure with earn-out provisions as part of a deferred comp plan. Not sure if it would work for Brady, the CBA might get in the way, but think it might be feasible for a coach. Another factor is league has to approve any new owner, and while they’d have a tough time blocking either BB or TB it’s novel and the other owners might not want to set a precedent. And I could see Jerry Jones blocking it out of jealousy he didn’t come up with it himself...

Taylor was asked about Belichick’s future, and how much longer he thought the Hoodie would coach.

Taylor … wasn’t privy to any inside information, but threw out an intriguing possibility.

“I mean, hell, he’s done everything he can do,” said Taylor. “Right now, his next step might be owner, something like that.”

Why not? I mean, I could see Brady getting into ownership, like Elways has with the Broncos.
It'd be after he retires, though. Same with Coach B. However, I suspect Coach is more likely to sell his small boat, buy a yacht, and retire with his girlfriend for a life traveling about.

Kraft can't make that offer to Brady.

Add in more girlfriends and a big pile of blow and the small boat that you’d trade in, and we share the same exact dream.

Can they do that with the salary cap? Like the Patriots are valued at 3.8 billion.

Would the most poosy-whipped, spineless owner in the NFL “cross the picket line” by giving his employees an ownership stake in the team in exchange for labor, hence radically redefining the roles of owners in professional sports, voluntarily watering down his power while his treasured 31 other owners rattle their cages and spit at him?

Let me get back to you on this one. I’ll need to consult with some experts.

first off, the difference between a millionaire and a billionaire is exponential

secondly, its one thing to pay someone lots of cash when they're making you lots of cash, and another just hand them a bunch of money and make them partners just b/c of what they've done for you as employees

Always thought that this was a possibility, maybe with a wink and a nod now, but in the future why not??

Mr. Kraft owes a tremendous amount of debt to both, as the Pats Franchise has increased exponentially over the past 20 years.. it probably would have shown an increase anyways, but not to this degree..

$600M is 1/10 of $6B
(Tisele and RK’s net worths)

There are rules preventing that from happening...at least while both are still employed by the team. And why would Kraft want to split is legacy and undercut Jonathan when he fully takes over when he passes?

I would just get that thought right out of your head.

The Broncos tried this with Elway and got their hands slapped.

Give them ownership of the team
Rename the stadium Brady/Belichick
Rename route 1 south TB12 highway
Erect a statue that makes Mount Rushmore look humble
Rename the Lombardi trophy to Belichick and make the trophy look like a hoodie with the sleeves cut off.

I'm all for it.

But the salary cap/players union/league etc., would go nuts with restrictions and cries for justice.

You mean cheat the way the Broncos did with Elway resulting in their tainted championships? Revisiting Denver’s cap penalties from the 1990s

"$29 million in deferred payments to quarterback John Elway and running back Terrell Davis. The second punishment, a $950,00 fine and another lost third-round pick, for cap violations that occurred between 1996 and 1998. The Broncos won the Super Bowl at the end of the 1997 and 1998 seasons."

That seems reasonable and consistent with the Patriots penalties. Two Hall of Famers added to roster in blatant and unfair cheating scandal. Slap on the wrist.

PFT is saying it may be the Dolphins part ownership Brady has his sights on.

So your saying we could get 2 more SBs for less than the cost of Deflategate?

Sold!

What are those rules? Whose are they, league, NFLPA, USC?

And with a good buyback agreement the legacy is not scattered so Jonathan doesn’t get undercut.

Of course not. That would be the mother of all salary cap violations.
