It really is awful. Pats fans included. I've basically given up but like going on for some info. There's so much & it's an amazing platform so you can't beat it.

You can still find rabid Penn State fans that are hardcore about protecting Joe Paterno. Stuff like that takes the veil off for just a moment and shows you how suseptable people are to become delusional in the face of declared and defined abject guilt, especially when it involves something as culturally significant as college sports.

Gayle Benson as a private citizen can do pretty much what she wants, but it appears that a line was crossed when she used the resources of the Saints.

Yesterday it was reported that , "The NFL finds the behavior of the deacon repugnant but based on available evidence the Saints did nothing wrong, this source said."

OTOH the knowledge and subsequent cover up of a crime, is as bad as the actual crime itself. To try to somehow enable a cover up of sexual abuse by George Brignac (who has a history of pedophilia) is probably not a good look for a NFL Franchise..

Agree entirely on the need for a "WTF" or similar, and have felt that way for a long time. Facepalm would be another.

In this case, I don't think there's anything pathetic or mopey about indicating that it is sad. It is the one that does fit, albeit not perfectly.

All of the Saints scandal related threads are locked: the original Saints/church one, patjews fairwell thread for post being deleted in the former, Ian's armchair chat thread in response to PJ's. The status of patjew leaving has been lost by those threads disappearing. I'm sure someone has been PMing with him. If so, let him know it's time for his return. He's got about 13 hours.

I didn't see that thread either, but I'm surprised to read that it was 'messy'. I figured it's one of those topics where it's very one sided..........but whatever, I'll leave it at that. I don't need the details.

I agree with other posters that it's a bad look for the NFL as a whole.

Most here tend to keep those things NFL related.
But then along comes a member who has an agenda ax to grind and away it goes.

There were some of us Harryboy, DarrylS, mrspatfaninva, patsfaninva,Patsreign and others who could discuss and disagree without being disagreeable but there were some people....who would be like a hurricane...come in, do a lot of damage and be gone....

When Obamacare was being released, there was a thread on creating a health care plan that could work and both those on the right and left added their opinions and it was one of the times where it was insightful and welcoming.. Other times it was inciteful..... There are certain topics that don't lend themselves to the main board like the Saints PR situation where a PoFo would be useful.........
IT was probably closer to 20 regular posters though I have omitted a few not intentionally who made it worthwhile.. Most of my posts initially were on the PoFo...

Again, the NFL now is all theater. The last hold out for 2 freaking decades was the Pats. My firm belief is the owners told Bob you start playing by the rules of our WWE NFL or you lose the team for your parlor activities. We can make the charges go away but you have a choice to make. Think about WHY he got popped when others do the same or far worse.

Think back to the Chiefs game. Set up for the Chiefs to win. There is plenty of evidence out there and this is just another. The Pats got hammered for infractions because they weren’t playing ball. That’s why this story is a nothing burger.
