Why do people hate Travis Kelce?

Inside the NFL tried to credit him last night as being fully capable of being the best blocking TE in football, but the Chiefs like to pass and don’t ask him to do that.
Such a ridiculous take... “oh he would definitely be the most dominant blocking TE, the same as he is a catching TE, the Chiefs just don’t ask him to!” Lol

Laughable. What team in their right mind would intentionally have a “great” blocking TE not block?

Can't block but gets the same credit as a TE who does. Kittle is way better.
I'd take a guy like Jack Doyle over Kelce. Doyle is merely pretty good at everything, but he's still a do-it-all TE, which makes him more valuable to schemes than Kelce IMHO.

Okay, I get it now.

In fairness, I think a lot of it is based on stupid media takes overrating him. It’s not like Kelce is saying “I could be a great blocker.” But yeah, I can see why his arrogant, frat boy attitude rubs people the wrong way. I just think when it comes to his antics, there are players on most teams that are really c0ccky.

Because he’s a poser. He talks like he’s from the ‘hood. When you hear his brother talk, the discrepancy is clear.

Von Miller also said it best calling him a “Wannabe Gronk”.

He’s Ben Affleck in “Dazed and Confused”

I don't get the KC hate in general. Hill is a POS, sure but you'd be pretty naive to think every team doesn't have creeps on the roster. Couldn't be bothered by Kelce.
I don't know how else to take besides insecurities? They're not big rival. A blast to watch. Idk I honestly think people are threatened which is a shame. No one is on or approaching what we've done. It's good to watch good football besides NEP. How exactly do you learn or become familiar with other players, concepts & systems?
Nothing wrong with only watching or appreciating NEP but it's ok to be a football fan too. Its only sports, not that big of a deal.

Aaron Hernandez wasn’t much of a blocker, though. Same with Jimmy Graham, Tony Gonzalez (he was okay but not great), and a bunch of move TEs. Amongst the move TEs who are basically big WRs who often line up inside, seems the guy is a pretty darn good player. I mean Kittle is significantly better, and Kelce’s limitations are covered up by supporting cast, but he is still a good player.

Anyway, I appreciate the feedback. I get the guy is kind of a d-bag and is significantly overrated. I am just surprised people hate on the same level as a guy who attempted to beat his pregnant girlfriend to death and broke his son’s arm.

Guy is a Dbag. That's why

Just his on the field stuff after say a first down grab..then 2 huge drops. I mean in my eyes he's a WR and not a true TE and people comparing him to the best TEs in the game (not on here) probably fuels it a bit more

Probably because we are sad that Brady is stuck throwing the ball to bums like Sanu instead of Kelce :(

Kelce is a guy you hate when he's not on your team...but love it when he's there. Reminds me a bit of Marchy. Everyone in the NHL hates him outside of Boston..but deep down if he was on their team..would jump for joy.

I can’t stand him. Now that Marquette King has washed out of the league Kelce is my least favorite player (not counting the domestic abusers they go without saying). I hate the fake accent he talks with on occasion. He mocked Brady. He’s a hothead who gets stupid penalties. He doesn’t block. He’s a Chief.

Overall I just think he’s a douche. I’ll always love Von Miller for commenting on the video below calling Kelce “fake Gronk”.

Nothing but respect for you Ice but let's be honest, it's not like being a very good player and being a self aggrandizing dbag are mutually exclusive. In fact the list of players that are both is so long several of them no doubt came unbidden to your mind as you read that sentence. Point being, we can respect a player's ability while still holding them in contempt for their behavior.

I think the hate in baked into the totally over-the-top, obnoxious media glorification that would be sure to follow a Chiefs SB win, whereby a new “Prime GOAT vs Accomplishment GOAT” conversation dominates the media, in the same way we had to listen to the absurdity with Rodgers from around 2011-18. Because that would definitely happen. On the other hand, I guess most would prefer the obnoxious, hot-take second guessing of Kraft/BB for trading JG. Should be a fun offseason :)

He may be a douche, but I wish we had a Kelce type TE on this offense. We have the worst TE situation in the NFL.

Hard to explain.

Agree with the douche comments though. Just comes off that way. (although I am sure Edelman comes off the same way to opposing fans as well) I also get agitated when the media calls him “Gronk 2.0” He is half the blocker Gronk was. He wears 87 but does not play anything like Gronk. He’s the new Jimmy Graham if anything, only a slightly better blocker and a less vertically gifted. Which isn’t bad at all, but not the same as Gronk.

Kittle is the new Gronk-esque, complete package TE IMO. That’s TE1 to me.

Because he regularly sleeps with an inflatable doll of himself, which is weird AF.

This is good if you missed it. Von Miller throws Kelce upside down. Later calls Kelce "fake Gronk" on twitter.

Broncos' Von Miller calls Travis Kelce 'fake Gronk'

It's a terrible look for Kelce. And/but, I think Von Miller might be pretty big and strong. I guess Gronk is pretty big and strong too.

I get that & honestly I'm not bothered by media hype/perception but I can understand why others are. Like you said we're getting from both ends bc of the winner. That handsome devil Jimmy G or Mahomes. Depending on who, different angles will be played up.

Idk I kinda wanna see tears from a KC win but am pulling for Jimmy & 49ers. Ultimately think KC wins though.

I remember the early years of Inside the NFL. My favorite years were those with Len Dawson and Nick Buoniconti. Each hour was 5 minutes of ads, 15 minutes of great football talk and 40 minutes of the best highlights.

Now we get 40 minutes of nonsense from a half dozen blowhards, 15 minutes of ads and 5 minutes of replays, which may or may not be what you'd call highlights.

Other than a worse quality of film, it was much better way back in the beginning.
