TMZ reporting the passing of Kobe Bryant

I'm suppose to dislike him as a Celtics fan, but I could never. I admired Kobe and his competitiveness. I could never see that type of fire under anyone other than Brady himself (at least in my generation).

This is horrible. The man was bigger than basketball. He was one of the cultural icons of the 2000s.

No new information has come out regarding Kobe so this is what is being we’re talking about in the meantime.
They literally announced more deaths were involved and an entire nation worth of people are honoring Kobe with tributes remembering his life. It’s a time to mourn the loss of his life along with others who were on that helicopter.

I can think of hundreds of things more important than that right now.

I’m just really annoyed that this is all people want to discuss in here right now.
We could bring up the trial in Colorado. Never been able to understand how tragedy leads to immediate sainthood. Excellent athlete. Greatly flawed individual.

Well if you’re religious only god can judge him. Also we don’t exactly what happened during that time. Maybe he lived with it knowing it was wrong and became a better person because of it.

This has hit me harder than I would have thought. Really sucks.

Still don’t wanna believe it. I can only imagine his wife tomorrow when she wakes up without her husband and daughter. That family’s gonna need a lot of therapy.

How do you even make that mistake?!? The words are even't remotely similar.
It doesn't have to be similar to the word. If she was thinking "Knicks" in her head and mentally changed it to "Lakers" at the last second I could see that slip happening. A lot of the time when people make mistakes like that it's because they were thinking of another syllable of a different word and jumbled it up by accident. **** happens.

For me growing up, Michael Jordan was the rare player where you could like another team but he was your favorite player. That was it for me growing up a Lakers fan but wearing his shoes in elementary school (OG Jordan 5’s emulating him on the basketball court). Magic was right there and then Kobe and Shaq were my number #1’s when Magic and Jordan retired.

I’m sure Kobe was that guy for the next generation and LeBron is that guy for this generation.

Ehhh...it sounded like she was distracted. She clearly said the N word but it was a weird hesitation and I can’t say with any certainty she said it on purpose, and I think it’s a huge stretch to say she subconsciously was thinking about it or uses it normally without knowing about her. Despite being on TV, she’s a real person and might be 100% not racist and not sure a 2-second moment like this should ruin her life and career. I think the network should hire an independent firm to investigate the situation.

Just my opinion. I’m sure people will disagree.

No. I completely agree

If social media didn’t exist, it would’ve been swept under the rug. However, she didn’t say “Nakers”.
I listened to it. She started to say knicks and tried to switch it to Lakers. So when you start to say Knicks you also start to say the n word. But I still heard a broken "Nakers". Broken because she realized she was going to say Knicks and tried to change it but i clearly said "kers" not "ers" Bottom line to me is that she did not say the n word.

Why would someone just randomly say the N word in place of a team name in the middle of a newscast about a very serious topic? This is absurd. Stop searching for things to be offended by and people to cancel.

RIP

Was really cool the way Kobe supported women’s basketball. Maybe a movement to continue to support them would be a fitting tribute.

John, wife Keri & Alyssa Altobelli also died.

Her explanation makes sense and I believe her. Christ I've have had it with people who constantly have their "you offended" antennas up.

It doesn’t have to make sense because that’s what she said. Can’t believe how many just jump to the worst. Well...I guess lots of media folks did reporting this story.

Anyway... phone speaker direct to my ear. She says “Nakers.” To me it’s a clear k sound, not a g.

Since I’m in here...Im a big NBA fan, so this is obviously shocking. Can’t imagine the pain the rest of their family is going through. Condolences to all the families who lost loved ones in this tragedy.

RIP

4:56 PM PT -- The Mayor of Costa Mesa, Katrina Foley, just confirmed the identity of one of the other victims in the helicopter crash ... girls basketball coach Christina Mauser, who's married to Tijuana Dogs singer Matt Mauser. Matt also confirmed the news himself.

On Facebook, he wrote ... "My kids and I are devastated. We lost our beautiful wife and mom today in a helicopter crash. Please respect our privacy. Thank you for all the well wishes they mean so much."

As much as I would have liked an MSNBC reporterette to have done this, she didn’t and the whole uproar is idiotic

Saddest of all is that this was a senseless loss of life as is coming out now.
They could have turned around and went back to the airport ...
Or landed anywhere that was safe ... too late now.

Please. He was a kid who hit fame and fortune and made a dumb mistake. Charges were dropped. Of course he wasn't perfect, but he gave a hell of a lot to so many people. I mentioned it earlier but he had been to my work several times and made sure to greet every one of our employees with a genuine smile and handshake. He was larger than life.
