My pure speculation: They found 5 bodies onsite and reported that number. Later, they checked the manifest and saw 9. Without confirming 9 bodies to match, they went back and started cross checking (e.g. contacting family of those on the manifest to see if indeed they got on that helicopter) to close the discrepancy and waited until now to report the 9.

Regardless, 9 people dying in a helicopter crash is horrible.

Yea let's blame the media for reporting news.

I found that particular gripe of his offensive.

I'm sure he thought letting those families involved know in person was better tact but there was zero chance they wouldnt of known regardless.

This **** sucks but its not tmz fault

Tiger Woods was buddies with him and just found out now after he finished his round. He said people were saying, "Do it for Mamba." , And he said he had no idea what people were talking about.

This is awful. His poor daughter...

Not a basketball fan, but always liked Kobe and his competitiveness. This is sad, my heart goes out to those that were close to him and his entire family.
Sucks.
