I know Kobe stayed in touch with Shaq's son so hopefully they squared away w/e issues they had.

Terribly sad news. Thoughts to his family and friends (and fans).

Shaq tweeted out some screengrabs of a convo between them, apparently from this AM, on one of the social media apps (not sure if it was IG or Snapchat).

As Jay Williams said on ESPN in so many words, life's too short to carry trivial s**t around.

This is making me ill, I can't remember ever being this affected by a celebrity death.. this is sad stuff, what a senseless tragedy..... cant even imagine what the mother/wife is going through right now

Be grateful for every day you get on this earth, you never know when your time will be up

I live down in Tobacco Road, surrounded by serious hoop heads. That was exactly what one of them said when I texted the group the TMZ story when it broke.

He spoke also perfectly in italian and was a huge Milan soccer fan...very very sad

David Bowie's death broke my heart.

This was a cool gesture by the Spurs and Raptors today. Two 24 second shot clock violations on purpose for #24.

I'm so sad with this news. In shock.

She just handed herself a pink slip.

This man defined competitiveness and love for a game. He was literally the reason why I ever liked basketball. Also had the opportunity to meet him a few years ago when he bought out my work (Dave & Busters) for his daughter's basketball team party. He made sure to smile and shake everyone worker's hand before going and spending time with his daughter. Such a good dude. Such an inspiration. RIP Kobe (edit: and Gianna!), praying for his family.

JFK Jr. the next year (I think) was quite a shock.

And Michael Jackson. And Heath Ledger. And yes, Robin Williams.

Those are my "remember where I was when I heard the news" ones from the past 25 or so years.

Also .. helicopters; man.
