@Kontra and others, I love you and always thought you were full of BS about posts being deleted...

I guess I would be annoyed if I was invested in some debate and had my posts deleted, especially if the post itself wasn't out of line. I've probably had it happen in the Political Forum back in the day, but oh well..

I know some posts got deleted because I had to cross 10,000 posts twice, but ehhhhh...

But I kinda think a lot of this is overreaction; a byproduct of spending too much time on the board here. I admit, I've been pretty much shut off to the football world since January 5-ish. I had to google "Saints Church scandal" because I had no idea what anyone was talking about. Stepping away, enjoying life, getting laid...all much better ways to spend a day than worrying about a Patsfans Illuminati.

Isn't the average age here like 47 or something? Why are grown men so worried about numbers and letters on a screen?

I'm here because I can't easily find Dear Abby's advice columns anymore.

God forbid I try to keep the gdt troll free
You know that’s near impossible.

I feel like there’s so much posting in the GDT that 90% of the bad stuff goes unnoticed anyway. Everyone’s running high on in-game emotion. I know that’s where I vent my frustration.

It’s not normal conversation in there, to say the least.

Absent extraordinary circumstances (like insanity breaking out causing lots and lots of posts having to be deleted) IMHO mods should always notify the poster that a post is being deleted and give a short reason why. And when they do feel they need to do a mass deletion they should leave a post in that thread saying what happened and why.
Yeah but that doesn’t happen. They just delete posts that they think get too testy instead of allowing posters the leeway to try to come to an understanding. This breeds more bitterness going from thread to thread because the issues never got hashed out. @Patjew I just PM’d you.

Not sure where illuminati or conspiracy theories is coming from. It's all pretty simple and not very surprising given what we know about human nature. It is what it is. No big deal. Idgaf.

I was specifically told by a well known person on this forum that he'd gotten some reported "messages" regarding some of the posts I put out there regarding another poster. They were deemed to be inappropriate and a bit inflammatory. It was suggested that I place that individual on ignore. Of course, I didn't. I guess I was being mean (but without name calling). I simply choose not to respond to that individual on his absurd takes anymore, given his protective status. In reality, the guy is a caricature so there's really no need for me to point it out anyway. There's me being mean again. ;)

Football issues are allowed to get hashed out, repeatedly. Other issues are just not survivable anymore....they always "go there."

People won’t get it until it happens to them en masse.

I would tell you guys to just grow up and get over it but I am still not over Ashley kicking me out of the gameday thread for laughing at our offense so I get it

I saw the Saints thread yesterday and where it was going and stayed away as if it were the Chinese Coronavirus plague.

Eh? I’ve had plenty of football posts get deleted because the convo took an inflammatory turn but still stayed on subject. Politics and religion had nothing to do about it. Here... let me give you an example of one that’s still up...

How the Patriots got where they are: College draft edition

Poster starts off with a potshot, I respond with one but still stay on target, mods delete. There’s nothing wrong with that kind of back and forth. It happens every day in the “real world.” What is wrong is deleting a massive amount of posts to keep this place looking like a sewing circle and it resulted in what appeared to be a huge slowdown in traffic as the team was entering a playoff push. I’m not sure if the analytics will back it up or not, but I can’t remember a time when the forum was as slow as it was as the team was still playing in January. We’re all grown ups here (or so we think). Crying about an inflammatory post is the biggest b.itch move I’ve ever seen. Grow some ****ing balls.

You “still aren’t over it”? Christ dude. How do you deal with actual issues worth being upset about?

Well, are you disgusted with censorship or the posters who complain about the posts or both?

Both. The latter more so because the mods are acting on people who are no doubt crying to them behind the scenes. The mods still have the choice about whether or not to take action, though.

Ok a post full of too much truth for the normie mods @ patsfans.com to handle has been made just before this one. Once they delete the post I'll update with how it has impacted me.

I love how you have the ability to push an issue seemingly past the line in a way that forces the mods to question where the line is or should be.

I imagine that you're Ian's most enjoyable headache. Haha.

Need to start bets on how long it takes patjew to come back. My money is on 4 days. That's from the time he posted he was out: 25-Jan 8:53 pm. So my mark is 29-Jan 8:53pm.

Closest to his posted hour wins. $5 per bet. Winner(s) take all.

I hope he will be back. The place will be more empty without him. He’s like Andy Dufresne.
