@Kontra and others, I love you and always thought you were full of BS about posts being deleted...

I’ve never reported or ignored a single person, or even spam disliked other than some petty disagree sparring with QuantamMechanic. There are no cliques here. The lame grievances being made are actually embarrassing coming from grown ass adults.

I know a few dudes here from an old Patriots mailing list by a guy named John Bosco and if there's any clique I suppose that would qualify but I've never ever done anything cliqueish other than make posts to defend QM from time to time but that's only because I feel like I know and understand where he's coming from. Don't get me wrong, we've had our arguments from time to time and he's pissed me off and I'm sure he'd say the same about me but knowing a person for who they are as a human being is an indispensable context when it comes to understanding their actions online.

Also people's reactions to his use of the post reactions system is hilarious to me because I'm pretty immature about enjoying people losing their **** over innocuous internet interactions, so there is also that.

Goddamn I love drama.

This board is far too heavily moderated, and the general censorship has gotten ridiculous. We were specifically promised that this wouldn't happen. And now the over-moderation may have driven away the least confrontational, and most deliberately friendly, poster it has/had.
This doesn't happen on a well moderated board.

Don’t worry, buddy, I’m still here! My only criticism of the mods is that they don’t delete enough of your supercilious BS.

I’m sure that my posts have been deleted on rare occasions, but I don’t pay enough attention to know this for sure, nor do I care. It certainly doesn’t happen often and, in my case, the deletions were probably justified. Those of you who think this board is over-moderated have clearly never posted on Reddit. That place is censorship central.

Lets lay all the facts on the table.

1. I knew that when I created the Saints thread that I was more than likely over the line.

2. So, I was not surprised or butthurt when it was locked.

3 Every one of you had to have seen the Saints thread locked and put 2 and 2 together as why.

4 So, you all knew the topic was forbidden fruit, but you went there anyway.

5 If you commented in the other Saints thread about the Catholic scandal then you had to have some idea that your post could be deleted or the whole thread nuked.

6. A post or posts being deleted is not the end of the world. The people here dont hate you or not value your input.

So, the moment we start to consider vandali... er... visitng @Patjew 's house for a convention, he quits his Patsfan life, huh

i see how it is

It’s just social media, all opinions flow with the prevailing winds and are more likely fake than real. It’s all for entertainment, let’s not take anything too seriously.

Maybe each poster could have 2 challenges per season. Once the challenge flag button is pushed, Ian could go into a special instant replay booth in his home which would include his best monitor, and review the deleted posts in more detail. If needed, he could further investigate/interview relevant parties, before rendering a final decision regarding whether the previously removed post will be returned to the thread. Each poster and mod could have stats available for number of removed posts and % overturned by review.

I have nothing to add besides the fact that I just read this whole thread while sitting on the bowl. Now my feet are falling asleep.

Patjew's one of the best posters here so hope he doesn't leave for good.

Despite the fact I regularly call for the banning of the worst poster on the board, the mods have yet to ban me. I was told my Patsfans Illuminati credentials were "in the mail" but what showed up was just an envelope with the word "Joker" on it and what may or may not have been a human tooth. Maybe once I get those credentials, the power of the clique will be mine.

A Saints fan came into the Love You Saints thread to give a questionable defense of the Saints involvement in a priest/molestation scandal in New Orleans. @Patjew called him out for it and, in my opinion, was justified. A lot of the facts did not hold up upon further review and I also called the Saints fan out for it. Another poster was concerned that all Catholicism was being attacked as “evil”, which I don’t think was what Patjew was trying to say but had used the word to describe the church (but I think he was just referring to this particular incident and not writ large). At that point a mod noticed this thread was headed in a controversial direction, locked it, and deleted everyone’s post dating back to yesterday. The entire thing happened in like 30 minutes.

Icy had already shut down a thread earlier today about the Saints scandal, so that it was shut down was not surprising to me. I think Patjew was upset because he felt very strongly about the issue, as most people would when these sexual abuse issues come up. I think he may have felt like he was being silenced, and I think the mod just wanted to get rid of the entire discussion altogether. There were 4-5 posters involved in the discussion. When it got closed, I was trying to respond to a couple of posters.

That’s the entire story.
It sounds like the posts should have been deleted, and thread locked. Stomping their feet and leaving is childish.

No post should be deleted. If there’s a problem, why not be notified about what you posted?

That wouldn't work. All it takes is one or two words on certain subjects to get the snowball rolling out of control.

Hopefully, @Patjew will rethink his position and stay with us. I'll be dumping the NYFL when Brady leaves football but I'll still be here. This place is phenomenal.

I've had posts deleted and received alerts that it had with the reason why.

It sounds like that doesn't always happen?

It doesn't, and being advised specifically why a post or thread has been deleted would be instructional vs. just having if vanish. But perhaps that's too much added work for the moderators.

Absent extraordinary circumstances (like insanity breaking out causing lots and lots of posts having to be deleted) IMHO mods should always notify the poster that a post is being deleted and give a short reason why. And when they do feel they need to do a mass deletion they should leave a post in that thread saying what happened and why.

How do I get into a Patsfans clique?

I hope it's not like the fraternity thing where I had to binge drink, and then the brothers lodged a broomstick up my arse. The broomstick was ok, but I can't drink like that anymore.

Wait, is that my fraternity story or my memories being an altar boy? Eh, it's all hazy.
