when is the last time they hired a coach from outside the organization?
They do it all the time. The last was the guy last year Frazier. Before that Bielema. They like to promote from within but go outside whenever necessary. There are many examples.

A coach from outside the building...With previous NFL coaching experience...that's a rarity.

Overall I think it is a good idea , from an article he seems to have worked with a few decent coaches and some experience from outside should be a benefit.

Fisch has worked for head coaches Steve Spurrier, Mike Shanahan, Brian Billick, Jim Harbaugh, Pete Carroll, Sean McVay, Dom Capers and Jim Mora Jr, among others.

He was Minnesota Gophers offensive coordinator in 2009, Eric Decker's senior season. He did a solid job with limited talent under dunce head coach Tim Brewster.

He's been around and should be a fine addition.

He has two homebred Belichicks at some point you have to look outside the bloodline.

Looks like an interesting hire, lots of experience with different organizations..

Like to see them bring back Pepper Johnson for the D Line position...

I'm on board with the hire ... he's got some coordinator experience in both the nfl (jax) along with the same role at florida... Don't know much else about him, but BB should rest easy knowing I approve lol...

I like the Pepper Johnson idea but believe he’s employed with the XFL and might not be available. They should bring back Romeo Crennel as a senior defensive assistant to mentor both Mayo and the young Belichicks. It would be good for their development to have another experienced coach to learn from in addition to BB.

Tailgating with Phish fans just took on a whole new meaning.

He seems to bounced around a lot. Why has he had 14 jobs in 23 years?

He has a strong background as a QB coach.

This hire may be related to Brady as the Pats are prepared to move on with Stidham. Meaning that the Pats want Brady's decision to come back soon.

In these exceptional circumstances all the coaching departures forced BB to Fisch or cut bait.

Fisch has experience at WR and QB coach as well as OC. Getting him lessens the chances that O'Shea might return. I was hoping Troy Brown might get the WR coach spot. Having a separate QB coach might be a good idea especially if TB leaves and Stidham becomes the man at QB. Would have liked an experienced NFL QB as a coach.

I love this hire. He was under Jim Harbaugh when he first started at Michigan and the fanbase was really disappointed when he left. He turned Jake Rudock into an NFL QB.

It happens, Bielema is the most recent example but off the top of my head BOB, Brendan Daly and Chad O'Shea all started elsewhere before joining the staff.

Getting him lessens the chances that O'Shea might return.

O'Shea joined the browns staff earlier last week.

Jedd Fisch sounds like an undercover name for Jeff Fischer.

"Alright Jeff, we'll bring you on... But since you are an embarrassment, we gotta change the name. Just wear sunglasses and a hat at all times."
