JoeJuan Williams arrested (drugs)

C'mon....we need to know what JJW was carrying before we render judgement.

It doesn't sound like pot to me....and I want to know how the cops found it......what probable cause did they have to search JJW....

A lot of missing details here....

Joejuan Williams

preseason: 201 snaps 12 targets 3 receptions 39.6 rating
regular season: 65 snaps 4 targets 2 receptions 67.7 rating

Criticize BB for drafting a corner in the top 50 when he had arguably four top 25 CBs in the NFL on the roster already but early indication is Williams can play. He was great in the preseason & then proceeded to not be thrown at in limited action in the regular season (came up big against the Bills).
Is it too much to ask that he stay out of trouble with the law?

He had drug paraphernalia in his possession.

Those are some lofty expectations: expecting Bill to know that JJ Williams would be arrested. I mean he totally should have avoided the pick due to that.

All joking aside, the plays he did play, in my amateur eyes, he did not seem to be victimized. I think that is a pretty big deal in this defense because I would expect any QB to try to throw at him when his other options as Gilmore and the #1 CB in terms of QBR against (Jackson) or a veteran CB in McCourty. I think he did a good job holding his own as a rookie and I am kind of excited to see what he does year two.

You’re forgetting the legend of Ras “IR” Dowling, the most inexcusable 2nd round pick. He was injury prone since high school, tore his ACL twice, yet he was the first pick in the 2nd round when everyone and their Mom knew Jabaal Sheard should’ve been the pick given the Pats pass rush was pathetic.

That's about as accurate as ESPN reports on Patriots' scandals.

Where was his fall guy?

He had one. That's a picture of Mayo.

Or, Mayo got busted and somehow got them to believe his name is Joejuan Williams.

We may never know.

I have no faith in anything related to this report and arrest:
  • in the media's interest in reporting it fairly or fully.
  • in Tennessee law enforcement giving a rich black young person in a fancy car a fare shake. (too much time in that state, and met too many cops/sheriffs there).
  • in the Patriots' ability to deal with this objectively, given all the controversy they are currently in the middle of, in the context of past controversy.
  • in the NFL administrative ability or motivation to deal with it appropriately.
  • in the counsel and support these young people get from their peers, agents, and NFL Players association to stay out of this kind of mess.
So, I'm all about wait and see, but without much optimism in the outcome.

And it is a terrible development for the team's roster development. He showed a ton of promise as a rookie, and you can't teach the size. The team is old. It needs every single young player to step up, so draft and cap capital don't have to be spent on new stars and depth players.

This new situation the Odds of Tom Brady leaving just went up thanks SlowQuan.

Brady is more likely to leave the Patriots because a defensive bench sitter got into a minor scrape with the law?

Do please explain.

I don't have a great feeling about Harry's ceiling as a traditional WR. The route running has never been there. He's a very nice gadget player like Patterson, but I don't know if he'll be more than that.

Hes no Dion Lewis

Any rational observer knows it takes at least two seasons to even begin assessing a draft class.

It is one persons report card after 1 season. Any knowledgeable Pats fan knows that the Patriots grade all players at seasons end.

Harry could blow up to a B or an A next season. A foolish homer would claim that he is anywhere close to that right now. Williams score is dinged with this drug thing.

How hard is it to NOT get arrested? Seriously? That's not exactly a Puritan level we want them to adhere to? I've gone 55 years now without getting arrested, It really isn't that hard to do!

I think it shows more stupidity than anything else, like I've always said, positive drug tests in the NFL tell you more about commitment than anything else. You know when they are coming, you know how long you have to abstain to keep your million dollar job, and you cant do it?

I could give a rats ass if some guy is smoking weed, but if he is dumb enough to speed and have all of that stuff in plain view in the vehicle he is speeding in, then he is an idiot!!

I guess we should be thankful that he didn't pull a JETE and have a baby in the car with him as he was showing the world his stupidity!
Thank you for proving my point.

I don’t know how much more we’ll find out, but if I had to guess it would involve speeding and a whiff of weed once they approached the car. I think that scenario would be the clear favorite.

Yeah, that is probably the only justifiable probable cause...that or glassy eyes....or slurred speech.

What throws me off is the word, "controlled substances" versus just "marijuana" and "drug paraphernalia " which could just mean ANYTHING.....I have seen cops take liberties with the term in the past....

It seems I’m the only one here that doesn’t care to much about this. I’m sure it wasn’t heroine, crack or something like that. Breaking kids arms? Then we have a problem.

Police found acetaminophen hydrocodone prescription pills, valacyclovir hydrocodone pills, some amount of marijuana, hand-rolled marijuana cigarettes and illegal paraphernalia.
When you have such stuff in your car, you don't speed.
