I’m thinking it’s Stidham and then drafting one or 2 guys
As the saying goes, it's easier to learn than to un-learn, so starting with someone new to our system is better than bringing in a vet that has already been brought up in someone else's system. Newton is past his prime physically and mentally and Mariotta just got outplayed by Tannehill. Doubt any other vets tick the boxes. I'm dubious about Bridgewater and Rivers too. Too expensive for the value provided, IMO.
Personally I think they find a way to get TB12 back on board, or go with someone young and unproven. The middle ground of bringing in a vet seems to solve no problems. If you want to keep the band together, do what it takes to get TB12 back. If you want to reboot, go with a young player and forget about paying the money a vet QB would want.
Personally, after six rings I'm fine with a reboot, in Bill I trust. I think TB12 going to another team will be sad but IMO he is past peak and I'm OK with restarting with a young QB. The league is finally seeing the value in a highly mobile QB and the league rules protect the QB so much that such QBs aren't likely to get wiped out like Cam or RG3 did.
It might take a mini-tank season or two with TB12 moving on this off season, a lot of other expensive vets being cut, new middle class vets being brought in, Stidham being given a year to sink or swim, and a full reevaluation this time next year with a clean salary cap and more draft picks available.
In fact I think that would be more enjoyable (if less successful in the short term) than a rerun of this season, which IMO is what we should be expecting if they bring TB12 back.
