Before the game of course. Curious what your confidence level was. And why or why not you thought they would win. The first SB I have memories of is the Carolina one. Obviously some fans have memories going back to Chicago. So how did you feel going into these SB's?

85 vs Bears: I Wasn't alive.

96 vs Packers: I wasn't alive

01 vs Rams: Way way too young to remember.

03 vs Panthers: Thought Carolins would ein because I was scared of the logo on their helmet (Yes I was young and immature lol. Didn't know any better).

04 vs Eages: Thought Pats would win because they beat Pittsburgh. And because my Dad said going in that McNabb was a choker. Again, I was too young to fotm any of my own opinions.

07 vs Giants: Thought they would win. Every kid in Elementary was talking about how perfect they were.

11 vs Giants: Thought they would lose because the Giants had the look of a team of destiny..again. And Gronk's injury. I was also jaded from the loss four years prior.

14 vs Seattle: I had absolutely no idea how the game would go. One team (Seatte) had the best defense in recent memory. The other team (Pats) had an explosive offense. What worried me was that the Seahawks beat Denver easily the year before.

16 vs Atlanta: Thought we would win. Wasn't super confident. But I didn't trust Ryan. I went to bed after 21-3. Woke up in time for the Hightower forced fumble.

17 vs Philly: I was 50/50 on who would win. I thought the Pats obviously had the superior QB. But I thought Philly had the better overall team.

18 vs Rams: Never a doubt we would win after we beat KC. Imo we had beat the best team in football already. I knew we would win. Not nervous at all going into this one.

85: Happy, but not confident. Their SB was really the AFCCG.

96: Happy, but doubtful. I thought Drew was the weak link. Sadly...

01: Confident, based on the regular season game. Thought we had a good shot.

03: Confident, but that was a wild 4th quarter.

04: Very confident.

07: The most nervous... undefeated was on the line. And they played us so well in game 16. Still couldn’t believe we’d lose, though. D’oh!

11: Up to that point, the most confident. Revenge was nigh. Double d’oh!

14, 16, 17 and 18: Confident as hell. Eh, to paraphrase Meatloaf, 3 out of 4 ain’t bad. :)

Man, what a freaking RUN. :)

Wow, 11 SB appearances...putting that into prospective, it's unbelievable !

86 too young to remember
96 old enough now but still young and over confident.

01 - I attended. Fairly nervous all day but then we got introduced as a team and I believed we would win. That moment when they got introduced me and my father were on visitors side amongst Rams fans who didn't get what was going on.

03 never been more confident. My father actually bought his SB tickets early for him and my twin brother.

04 more confident than year before.

07 even more confident yet again. :(

11 Vengeance on the mind. :(

14 Was supposed to go. Ticket broker screwed up. Then my gallbladder screwed up. The boys brought a big screen to the hospital room. I was pretty confident again and pretty doped up :).

16 Super confidence was back. At half time I can't say I was sure we would win that would be a lie but I was sure TB would make a game of it. (A little less sure at 28-3 but wasn't giving in at least until after the ensuing offensive drive.)

17 Overly confident. :(

18 Confident but confidence didn't even matter cause we ain't going no where. ****y.

The Next One - The Best One

'86: Was a 12 year old who thought we were the team of destiny.

'97: Was so happy the Jags eliminated the Broncos and enjoyed watching the AFC title game in Colorado on a ski trip! Knew the Packers were good, but felt confident going in.

'02: Kinda knew that we would win, but was nervous as hell and wide eyed going in.

'04: Nervous as hell because we weren't a dynasty yet and also missed the postseason the year before.

'05: Was very confident, but worried about Terrell Owens playing. Was more worried about the Steelers game in the AFCCG.

'08: Nervous as hell with us close to making history.

'12: Confident...believed that we would win one for Myra Kraft and complete our revenge.

'15: Nervous as hell....

'17: Was there and nervous as hell.

'18: Semi-confident and couldn't believe how bad the D was.

'19: Pretty damn confident given that we survived Arrowhead in OT.

Wasn’t alive for SB 20. Was 1 for SB 31.

The next 4 I was too young to think logically about it, thought we’d win.

SB 46 thought we’d win

SB 49 thought we’d win.

SB 51 thought we’d win

SB 52 thought we’d lose

SB 53 thought we’d win

85 thought they'd get smoked
96 about 30% chance to win, lucky to be there, couldn't believe they took lead at 14-10 and then got to down 6 in third
01 thought they'd get killed
03, 04, 07, 11, 14, 16, 17, 18 thought they'd win each bc the Pats were the better team in every game (w maybe 14 the lone exception). No one can say any of the SB opponents were a better team than the Pats after 2001...

really? thats just all kinds of wrong

======================
XX: 20/80 Thought it was nice just to be there

XXXI: 40/60 Thought we had a punchers chance

XXXVI: 30/70 1st SB I attended... Didn't think we really had a chance

XXXVIII: 90/10 2nd SB i went to ... almost 100% confident the Pats were going to win ... so much so i made travel plans before we even had confirmed tickets

XXXIX: 100/0 ... 3rd SB I attended ... knew we would beat the eagles

XLII: went to the week 17 game in NY for 16-0 ... said to my buddy I didn't want to see that team again ... was about 70/30 we would win though

XLVI: 90/10 ... there is no way BB & co were going to get taken out by Eli a second time, right?

XLIX: 50/50 ... all i could remember the Pats/seahawks game and mr jabberjaw afterwards

LI: 75/25 ... Falcons were hot, never thought we would be on the end of a beat down for 3/4 of the game though ...

LII: 90/10 ... come on ... losing to Foles? that was embarrassing

LIII: 100/0 Jared Goff is not a good qb ... no way was he going to beat us without kupp and with an injured todd gurley

I knew we would win Super Bowl 39 (McNabb) and lose Super Bowl 46 (Giants rematch.). All the others I felt a mixture of confidence and dread. I had a very good feeling about the Falcons Super Bowl and thought the Pats would cone out right from the start and dominate. So what do I know?

Catatonic

I felt supremely confident going into SB 42 and have never felt as confident ever since :(.

Thought 01 would be a loss & 07, a win...

01, didnt think they would win, the next two very confident, after 07 I got jittery, against Seattle and Atlanta was semi confident, I knew they would beat the Rams.

85. thought we would shock the world. A silly 15 year olds confidence.

96. Glad Denver got eliminated. Not confident but for a brief moment after Martin’s score was dancing around the living room. And then someone decided to kick it to Desmond.

01. thought we had a chance after first meeting. Still nervous, thought they were going to blow them out after Tebucky return which shouldnt of been overturned.

03. Thought they’d win big, they just won.

04 about what i expected. props to T.O for a gutzy performance.

07. Very confident, very regretful. Never get over it fully. Once in a lifetime chance taken by a blatant, blatant Sean Ohara hold on Seymour. No doubt in my mind that game ends in a easy, easy sack if called correctly.

11, same no way they loose to goofy mcgoober again, damn you welker.

14. Quietly confident. Dynasty 2 started.

16. Super confident, shocked beyond belief that they did. Proud of my confidence that they could still come back.

17. super confident, super disappointed

18. Confident, I love and miss Gronkowski.
