Claims he played on a torn achilles. Im not sure how thats possible.

Watson’s been known to show extremely high levels of effort before in the past. Wouldn’t surprise me.

Going from 38 year old injured Ben Watson & injured Matt LaCosse to potentially Hunter Henry or Eric Ebron will make a big difference on offense

Damn. Yeah prob time for him to retire. Shame his throwback game vs the Titans went to waste. Wish him all the best, great guy.

I think Meyers was the only player on offense that didn't get hurt this year. Maybe Michel and White? Can't remember, but either way, one of the worst injury years for one side of the ball that I can remember.

Might have been a partial tear; doesn't seem possible to play on a fully torn Achilles but I'm no expert on that.

There is no way you can run, cut, or block on a torn achilles. This smells a little concussion waterish to me.

No way in hell it was a full tear.

Achilles tears come in two flavors. One is the compete rip-off-the-bone tears and the other is when individual muscle fibers shred away in the middle. I have buddies who have had both kinds. Interestingly enough, the first one was a shorter recovery time.

I bet Ben had a partial tear of the 2nd type. Still though, tough bastard and hope he enjoys retirement.

Time to find the next All-Pro TE. Enough of the used cars shopping.

Would explain a lot. Probably tore it before he ever suited up because he played like it all year.

So sorry. :(

Of course, the PFT story stresses that he was never on any injury report, inflaming the "Pats are cheaters" posters in the comments. Yeah, I know, I should never read the always toxic comments sections.

Michel is the one who had the knee procedure at the beginning of the summer. There’s a decent chance that it affected him for the first couple of months of the year.

He was not the same player as the latter part of the 2018 season.

Somehow Sony still had almost 1000 yards but sort of got there quietly.

Always thought there was some sort of correlation between length of the season, recovery period and then injuries the next season... this is not so much true for Watson as he had 4 weeks off early in the season, but for the other guys going to the SB three years in a row adds up. The body can only take so much pounding..

Agreed, but he looked better as the season wore on, which is one of the reasons why I can’t help but wonder how limited he had to have been in the first 6-8 games of the season.

Maybe he just isn’t that good and I’m making excuses, but I don’t think he’s as bad as he looked at times, either.

I wish that he was more elusive or faster.

Super tough for played through pain

Just what everyone hopes for out of a second year first round back. Almost 1000 yards.
