OT: Sox Fire Cora

what a stupid post. Sign stealing didn’t help? Pal the whole investigation is for 2017 and 2018. Last I checked Cora was on both World Series teams from those seasons running a sign stealing ring for the former and possibly the later.

And wow! The Yankees had 1 or 2 guys on their team that used PEDs in the 90s, just like every other team in baseball did. Remember the Red Sox won 2 World Series with known cheater manny Ramirez. Big papi isn’t exactly exonerated or anything either
It's a joke. Get off your high horse. They lost at home during the playoffs. They won on the road Case flippin closed. Players who were interviewed said they didn't think it was helpful. That's why they stopped using it.
I'm sure it was more than 1 or 2 players on PED's. Did you even watch games back in the 90's and early 2000's?

they stopped using it because somebody was in the replay room during the playoffs.

Sure maybe more than 1 or 2 guys were on it, but until we here something we are under the impression it wasn’t more than 1 or 2. There’s no evidence

Whether I did or didn’t watch the games is irrelevant

Way worse than spygate. Real time cheating by both Sox and Stros vs. accumulating a library of teams' hand signals that may or may not have been helpful...

It should he noted that the cheating Astros couldn't win a single home game in the World Series in 2019, presumably because MLB shut down their cheating operation

for the love of Christ, there is a ****ing forum for this. How hard is it to post Red Sox/baseball related content in the ****ing Red Sox Forum?

If it is breaking (as it was yesterday) it is fine to post it here.

Sorry, it offended you so.

Did ya hear Neil Peart died?

I follow Chris Rock’s line of thinking for these types of events — I’m not saying I agree, but I understand.

And MLB needs to reassess this rule in general - why is one form of sign stealing ok and not another? If we do think this current set up is appropriate because it makes sign stealing too easy (we’ll reward brains, not simplicity), is there something we can do with the sign giving process that can actively prevent this? There’s nothing stopping MLB from allowing managers, pitchers and catchers from having an earpiece to relay the pitch selection, and having the rules be no use of the same frequency for each team and have a league rep watching over things during a game. Same thing for hitters and batters regarding signs from the 3rd base coach.

I think sign stealing is 'accepted' if it's a runner on second base who relays it to the batter. It's all in the open and it's gamesmanship.

As soon as you get technology involved in it then that answers the question in bold. They were using a room inside the stadium that was set up for a completely different purpose. The opposing teams had no idea that sign stealing was happening so they didn't take steps to stop it. The only recourse they would have had would be to switch signs up every inning or something which seems too drastic and would hurt the product on the field.

Also what is the Chris Rock reference?

asking for a friend

yeah this bumped one of the Brady threads off the front page! Ban OP please. I won't know the latest about how Brady is 43.

Definitely a good argument for why electronic methods are not allowed - thank you for that.

Regarding Chris Rock, here is a video but it’s very much not safe for work (language). It’s his commentary on OJ Simpson.

Thanks, will check it out. Love me some Chris Rock.

He’s playing the leading role (villain) in the upcoming season of Fargo. I can’t wait.

Well then the Nationals should have swept them. If we're going to say they couldn't win a home game simply because they couldn't cheat, then they shouldn't have won a road game when they couldn't cheat.

I live in Puerto Rico and had a sign out in front of my property stating I had vegetables for sale. As I was walking up my driveway with a bunch of tomatoes I noticed the sign wasn't there. It has been extremely windy so I just assumed the wind carried it away. As I started investigating ing the area for the sign I saw someone running down the street. Friggin' Cora.

Looking into the scandal more, holy **** is the MLB naïve to think they wouldn't cheat like this lol. I don't let them off the hook for cheating, but why did they let them install a monitor in the dugout thinking they wouldn't cheat?

They probably figured it was so they could stream movies to keep from falling asleep.

Mods: OK, pathetic MLB, the Bankofamericasox and morally bankrupt Cora have had their 15 minutes on the Patsfans.com main FOOTBALL forum. Can this thread finally be moved to where it belongs?

Edit: thank you.
