I absolutely hate what they did this year. The weird "surprises" where they tell the guys on TV. The fact that they are letting in people who didn't get in the same way as everyone else. Some questionable guys have been getting in the traditional way now they let in guys who may never have made it or worse of all would've made it the real way but now will be looked at with an asterisk for getting in in this class.

But what does one expect with the current Commissioner. He cheapens everything he does.

I think the surprises were only because there were two guys who happened to be on broadcast teams that were going the same weekend, so they decided to mix it up. I didn't mind it that much. It was interesting to see those two guys, who always play up how tough they are, be rendered in shock and speechless, and in Johnson's case, start crying. Cowher just gaping as he processed what was happening was priceless.

I agree that having a big class of extra people is weird and gimmicky though and cheapens it.

There shouldn't be minimum or max. It's absurd to think you'll have a set # every year. Some years you might have 10, others none. It's the elite of the elite though. That cheapens it imo.

Make a point to get more ST in. Maybe allow for one extra spot, if the current format stands. To have for just ST players. You don't have to fill it every year but those guys get hosed competing with other players.

I just think it's ridiculous that Ed Reed, Lawrence Taylor, and Deion Sanders should be in the same hall of fame that also has Jerome Bettis, Kurt Warner, and now all these guys. They need to have a separate wing for the first ballot guys.

Drew Pearson was upset today......

Rodney Harrison belongs

Stanley Morgan over Harold Carmichael.

It's only a matter of time before it's officially renamed 'the Hall of Very Good'

I think the guidelines for players should be “were you one of the top 2-3 players in the league at your position over a period of x years” where x varies by position.

This would exclude Eli for example but probably include Pearson. It would also allow for kickers and special teams aces (although maybe the criteria there would be reduced from top 2-3 to top 1).

Maybe occasional exception for someone like Frank Gore based on volume but not sure.
