BGC 2020 TE/PTP Thread

Ben Ellefson is some I really like. Very good blocker. Knows his role and likes contributing that way. Likes contact. Has some pop in his hands. Classic stalk blocker. Very smooth strides nothing mechanical abt his movements. Loves bullying smaller guys and has no problem lowering his pads for extra yards.

My hope is that BB can swing a trade for a oj Howard or sign Gerald Everett. Then we draft someone like Thaddeus moss in the mid rounds. I’m really not too high on kmet right now in the first round.

is Kmet worth taking in the first? Because I do not think hed be there in the second
Undisputed TE1 to me

Howard or Everett would be major

TE is so important in this O, and having a promising rookie like Moss as our TE2 would be solid

I’ve watched Kmet tape and I’m struggling to find the reasons why people like him so much. He seems like an average TE. if anyone can suggest some other tape where he looks more 1st rounder capacity then let me know as at the moment he’s a 3rd rounder to me.

Kmet’s blocking is not that great.

the best blocking tight end in this draft is Parkinson of Stanford.

kmet is not sudden as a route runner.

Albert o might be the best route runner in this draft.

Kmet has a second round grade in my book.

Reminds me of Eifert coming out, probably a lesser version

Always amused when schools/systems churn out similar players

High upside as a receiver, but yeah probably not a true 1st round talent

That’s my thinking when it comes to kmet right now. I think he jumped to the number one spot of the tight end ranking just because of how weak the position is this year. I don’t think he’s worth our first round pick this year.

Big disagree on bolded. He's ok a lot of work before he's even a truly effective blocker. Better in space. 6'6/6'7 235-240 he has to bulk up and needs some help before he truly effective inline

Agree with the take that kmet is not a 1st round talent. And the same applies to Bryant, who is more of a big receiver than a TE
I like the idea of drafting Albert O in the 3rd-4th range. Good size and routes. Iffy blocker but has the physical tools to get better.
A good blocker in the later rounds would be nice too. Maybe Moss? I'm not sure who the best blocker is in this draft to be honest

Yup, exactly, spot on...weak TE class for sure

I'd love Moss in Round 3-4, could be a TE2 right away assuming BB trades for a Howard/Njoku/Engram

If we’re looking at a move TE then the guys are; Brycen Perkins, Hunter Bryant and possibly Albert O, he could be classed more of a traditional TE.

Hunter Bryant could be like AH..

I loved AH man

But he's been gone for what? 8 years? BB never found or cared to find a AH clone

Won 6 SBs without him and have a feeling we only got him because no one else wanted to touch him

Think BB is looking for guys that are strong blockers and capable receivers as opposed to a utility player on O

Gronk was so good we never needed to give it much attention (in terms of the draft) but think about the guys we could have paired with him along the way. Henry, Goedert, Kittle, Ertz ...

I miss what never really was in Gronk/AH and just see a decent amount of talent around the league. Guys that really can manipulate a defense, contribute in the run game..

I think everyone should look at Ellefson if you haven't yet and compare him to what you might get in RD2-3 on most big boards.

Kid from Cinci too. Could be a decent all around player.

If BB could swing a trade for engram I would lose it. He was probably the biggest binky of mine coming out. He would be huge for this offense. But Howard and njoku would be great too.

Yup, so many young TEs have entered the league as of late, shame BB hasn't pounced

Shame we never really got to see Gronk/AH dominate in their primes as well

Sad, tragic story regarding AH

I like Engram, not sure about his health, but a very good receiver and has improved as a blocker

My personal favorite would be Howard because he can dominate as a pass catcher and a blocker

Njoku like as well, regardless of who it is, TE needs to be addressed

Acquiring a likely cap casualty like Jimmy Graham, Ebron, Trey Burton, or Delanie Walker as TE2 behind a guy like Howard, Engram, Njoku would be huge too

Not a great TE class out of the Drfat this year, but maybe BB finds one that can contribute

Do you mean Deguara, or Trautman from Dayton?

Deguara, I just haven't wrote his name a ton so didn't want to misspell it. He has a lil potential in terms of developing into a good all around player. Really like Trautman too.

Why trade for a TE ? Just sign a TE as a FA (Hunter Henry would be ideal) and draft a TE, Albert Okwuebunam being my favorite. Offense automatically improves big time, regardless of who the QB may be. Two TE targets would open up the inside for Edelman and the outside for Harry and whoever we might sign/draft at WR.

I’m just praying that Belichick admits to himself that we need weapons on offense. I remember the 2012 draft, it seemed like Belichick finally realized the team was starving for playmakers on defense and drafted Jones and Hightower. It immediately paid dividends winning a SB 2 years later.

The offense can be retooled pretty fast. And the Pats can be SB contenders pretty fast.
