LOL at anyone who thinks yesterday's game has any long term implications for measuring how good a QB Jackson is. He's 22. 90% of us on this board were barely able to figure out how to hold down a job at 22. He's done amazing things with his life, his career, and his talent. We have no idea how good he will become.

And it is equally sad that Patriots fans believe that to compliment a player from a competitor is somehow to disrespect the Patriots. That's just broadcasting insecurity. The opposite is true. The better the opposition is, the more significant it is to defeat them.

Good article on the Athletic this morning about making sense of last night's game for Jackson:
Wading through the takes to make sense of Lamar Jackson's...

Includes this paragraph:
The truth is that Jackson delivered an MVP season at the age of 22. Peyton Manning threw 28 interceptions at that age, and his team went 3-13. Aaron Rodgers attempted 16 passes. Tom Brady wasn’t in the NFL yet.
Jackson is in trouble because teams will have all off season to break down his tendencies. Rushing the ball is too much of his game.

Two things the Pats generally don't do that did in Baltimore:

Rest players two weeks in a row (can anyone say that Lamar Jackson was not rusty?).
Overlook your next opponent.

I'm loving it!

My only regret is that we flamed out early as someone cleared Baltimore out for us, and we would have had a much clearer path back to the SB (but not overlooking our next opponent, LOL).
Looking back, it's frustrating how close the Patriots were to beating Tennessee as poorly as the offense played. A dropped Edelman catch and field goal away. :(

Stop the crap. Joker isn’t racist and you know that. Criticizing a player who happens to be black has nothing to do with race. You making it about race makes you the racist.
Some simple people believe they’re doing a good thing when they call someone racist

They’re not doing a good thing because it has no meaning. Most that do that are Caucasian so go figure

Personally, I inherently favor pocket passers and have a disdain for those that run all over the place. That disdain is because no QB can sustain running wildly. That’s what history has proven.

Never try to read between the lines which is what some will call “undertones”. Nothing on a football board is that serious

It’s not the full picture but it was a snapshot of him struggling when a team contains his running. Jackson is still young but he really needs to work on awareness and throwing ability.

So when the Titans beat the Patriots everyone said the Patriots dynasty was over.

So does this mean that the Ravens dynasty is over as the Titans beat them worst than they beat the Patriots?

I'm sure he's got a lot to work on. The question is more about his ability to learn and adapt. So far he's showing pretty well in that regard. He's got 8-10 years until he's expected to be at his peak as a QB.

A dynasty has to have a beginning before it ends....

..and to anticipate and manipulate.

Arguably Tom's two greatest qualities

Drawing conclusions from between the lines is a dynamic that is dominating our culture right now.
Even on a football board it is common to see people proclaim that words players or coaches say PROVE they really mean what the poster implies is between the lines. Political discourse in our society revolves around argument over what is between the lines and how a group can build offense into any comment from someone they oppose.

I agree. People have gotten so serious I wonder how they enjoy how awesome life is.

Funny how it didn’t take Brady 8-10 years to “develop”....whatever that means.

Winning is what the game is about. And Brady lead the Patriots to victory 10 out of his first 10 tries in the playoffs.

That’s the point, nothing more, nothing less

There absolutely racist undertones in the thread by well known members and it's pretty sad tbh.

I've been saying since I first wrote abt him that he needed to improve. Most notably outside the #'s.
The problem is there's always been false narratives told abt him.
1)He can't read a defense. Even though he moves his head like a clock when given time. He can go through his progressions with ease.
2)He can't run a pro style offense. Even though he's run two different offenses since college to a very high degree. He ran a variation of the EP in college and then turned around an ran Romans in the pro. How easy is that?

These are 2 of the bs narratives that's thrown around abt him along with racist bs like in this thread.
I can guarantee you he's donated more to charity then most on this forum. And a lot more that's not talked abt.

Anyway speaking of Watson since you brought him up I'll end on this.

A look at both of there 2nd year.

Jackson - 265/401 3127 66.1% cmp - 36 TD/6 INT - 9.0 TD% - 7.8 Y/A - 8.9 AY/A - 11.8 Y/C - 8.19 ANY/A - 23 Sacks/5.4 Sack %

Btw again that 9.0 TD% has only been done twice in the modern era (Rodgers/Manning)

Also brought his team to the playoffs twice. MVP this year.

Watson - 345/505 4165 68.3 cmp% - 26 TD/9INT - 5.1 TD% - 8.2 Y/A /8.5 AY/A - 62 Sacks/10.9 Sack % - 6.87 ANY/A

Let's do the playoffs.
Watson, 1-1 record, 49 of 74 for 66.2%, 2 TD 1 INT, 87.8 QBR, Sack% 11.9.
Jackson, 0-2 record, 45 of 88 for 51.1%, 3 TD 3 INT, 68.3 QBR, Sack % 11.1

This is great. Now I really don't have anyone to cheer against in the Playoffs. Whoever wins is of no concern. Chiefs fans may get annoying but they weren't nearly as obnoxious as Ravens fans (and their "historic" team).

The missed fourth down conversions were essentially turnovers too, so add those to that stat.
Yup, Ravens had 7 turn overs, and Titans scored 28 pts off the TOs.

2 INT - TD
4 Downs - 2 TDs
Fumble - TD
