RIP McCarthy

Seems like an underwhelming hire...

I don’t think it’s underwhelming, but it’s definitely the kind of hire you make when neither Meyer nor Rhule is interested in the job. IMO, Judge is a much more underwhelming hire.

With the meddling Jerruh, why would anyone of note be interested?

I don’t know, guys. My wife is a lifetime Dallas fan, so I’ve heard way too much about this subject. McCarthy is an experienced NFL coach, having brought his team to the playoffs in 9/13 seasons. That obviously includes 2 NFC title games and a SB victory.

He uses a no-nonsense type of approach, which is why he didn’t get along with diva Rodgers, but is quite necessary for a group of misfits like the Cowboys. Over the past year+ of being out of the league, he continued to study extensively, breaking down tons of film and trends with other coaches.

I get where you’re both coming from in terms of it being a hire that seems “non-sexy,” but I think he’s way more qualified than someone like Urban Meyer.

Yeah he has very good resume even better than McDaniels.

I think McCarthy had his faults and was clearly burned out at the end of his Packers tenure. More than anything I think his personal relationship with Rodgers was just radioactive, which Rodgers bears the bulk of the blame for because he's an absolutely insufferable prima donna and all-around creepy weirdo who never stopped ultra turbo hating McCarthy because he liked Alex Smith once. Which is just beyond psychotic.

Watched CAR presser and watching DAL presser now.

Doesn’t mean any of this matters, but :
*Rhule was alone, commanded the room, was confident, set the tempo
*McCarthy seems bumbling, has two Joneses with him at the podium, Jerry Sr is controlling the convo

They could hire Jesus and the Holy Trinity ...
Won't matter as long as Jerruh is pulling the strings.

Jerruh wouldn't put up with another god in Dallas.

Such a bad hire. I had hoped the Panthers would get him so the Saints wouldn't have to worry about them for a few more years.

McCarthy is a dolt. His offensive schemes are prehistoric. The Packers offense under him was exactly the same as the Saints offense when he was the OC. Every single pass was a five-step drop, every single run was halfback dive. Just god-awful, caveman garbage. If he hadn't been lucky enough to end up with Rodgers he would've been fired years and years ago. Rodgers is probably literally the only QB in the NFL at the time that could make his nonsense 1985 era offense work.

I wish McCarthy the best except when they play us.

I felt the GM in Green Bay let McCarthy down, spent big on Low production free agents and second contracts and failed to keep the talent pipeline flowing.

That will be nothing compared to when Dallas lets him down in the draft. Jerruh is going to draft whomever he wants whether or not they fit any offensive or defensive identity McCarthy is going to try to form.

McCarthy is going to waste half his energy coaching, and the other half, fighting off interference and dealing with Jerruh on every little detail. You know Jerruh is going to be demanding answers every other minute.

that guy you called a dolt won a Super Bowl though.

Sure, with Aaron Rodgers, four very good WR's, an offensive line with 4 out of 5 Pro Bowlers and the #2 defense in the league that year. Lot of coaches could've won with that.

Imagine spending all off-season looking into analytics and then saying this ..

If anyone's confused (looks at @captain stone ) analytics say the opposite. PA is effective even if you're not running the ball (well). The running game matters a lot although I'd argue it's become situational football.
