Ranking the Belichick & Brady Era Play-Off Losses:

If Dee ford doesnt line up offside last yr, that makes this list. Thats how thin the margins are . Or if marshawn lynch runs from the 1. We have a fair share of games where we couldve lost as well.

Who cares

Not only that but why go down that road?

If I was going to rate anything I'd rather rate who deserves the biggest slice of the blame pie for each of those losses, Belichick or Brady.

1. 2007 Super Bowl
2. 2011 Super Bowl (I was really angry at this one, esp. the grounding call)
3. 2017 Super Bowl (NFL changed the rules for the game, applied them to the Patriots only)
4. 2006 AFCCG Colts
5. 2015 AFCCG Broncos

List of losses:
3) 2017 Superbowl vs. Eagles - 505 passing yards and the Pats D couldn't make 1 friggin' stop.....
So close to winning, and it would have allowed SB53 to be three in a row for NE, which has never been done.

4) 2010 Divisional vs. Jets - Chung's fake punt call game.
That team was stacked. Great chance of winning it all if they didn't choke. And to Ryan and the Jets!

Pretty much identical to my list except I'd swap these two.

2017 would have been a luxury win. 2010 was one of the best teams we ever put on the field and was before 2014, 2016 and 2018 so there was still a lot of the noise you mentioned about how we had to spygate to win, etc. I just remember the hangover from the 2010 loss and watching Jets players run around like airplanes on our field and how much that hurt. By the Eagles SB loss it was more like 'sure, throw another Lombardi on the pile' time for me.

You always remember the losses more than the wins. I see it as a testimony as to how close we were in many years where we didn't reach the top of the mountain. In 7 of 11 losses, we were at least in the final four...
No. (Wow you truly are negative)
I for one definately remember the wins more than the losses.

The only painful loss that's hard to forget is the 2007 sb, but 3 wins since has put it in perspective.

From just put an ice pick in my eye down to migraine headache.

1. 2007 Superbowl vs. Giants - I didn't watch a sports TV show for months to avoid it.

2. 2006 AFC Title Game @ Colts - Not just Hobbs. The phantom OPI on Brown and the no call on David for holding Caldwell in the end zone.

3. 2011 Superbowl vs. Giants - If Gronk doesn't get rolled up on in the AFCCG this isn't close.

4. 2017 Superbowl vs. Eagles - If Jonathan Jones is healthy they don't miss Butler.

5. 2015 AFC Title Game @ Broncos - So much home cooking and if Ghost hits the XP they win the game in OT.

The rest of the games I've ordered but overall those ones aren't as bad because they either had no business making it that far, got blown out or this year only better the Titans and any of the remaining options to lose to.

2005 Divisional @ Broncos -
2010 Divisional vs. Jets -
2012 AFC Title Game vs. Ravens -
2013 AFC Title Game @ Broncos -
2009 Wild Card vs. Ravens -
2019 Wild Card vs. Titans -

This was the least painful playoff loss of the dynasty era. At least for me. Denver in 05 is the only one that comes close.

I feel the same way about 2017. That was not near the top of my list for worst losses. It would have been really bad had it happened before 2014. 2014 changed everything and the two SBs after made things even easier.

2010 Jets loss shut down the site lol. That's probably the second best win in Jets history.

2011
2006
2010
2012
2015
2007
2017
2013
2009
2005

The Titans loss is probably the least painful of them. The top would be

1) Giants 07
2) Colts 06
3) Broncos 15
4) Jets 10
5) Giants 11
Good "bad" list, if you know what I mean...

To each his own, but I feel that this is a positive thread as I was immediately over the loss on Sunday with it ranking 10 out of 11 on my list. And we are very privileged to only have 11 playoff losses in twenty years. The Bills have two in twenty years with zero wins!

I was at the 05, 06, 07, 11, 13, 17 games on your list.

The Broncos loss in 05 was the end of the "win every big game" era. Jerome Bettis was going to quit football without a ring in 04 after the Pats beat them, but Charlie Weis told him that he ought to consider giving it 1 more season.Bruschi had his stroke later on.

The Colts 06 loss was a missed Super Bowl win because the Pats would have annihilated the Lovie Smith/Rex Grossman Bears in Miami. It was 90 degrees in that Dome heat full blast. The previous week the Pats narrowly beat Marty Schottenheimer's 14 -2 Chargers. The lights out game. Troy Brown broke up and interception that would have likely sealed the Chargers win. Nick Kaeding missed a FG and time ran out. I was at that game too.

The 07 Giants loss. I had placed a Super Bowl bet in Vegas on NE and I was minutes away from holding a winner of a ticket. I was going to drive across the Hoover Dam (first time) and on to Vegas and then home. Instead, I got caught in a snow and ice storm through NM and the panhandle of TX. Long miserable trip home.

The 11 Giants loss made me wonder if Brady had lost it. Gronk got hurt the game prior vs the Ravens. Right from the get go intentional grounding set the tone for a bad day.

The 13 Broncos loss was similar to the 19 team. Brady had no WRs. Slater was out there playing WR to show how thin the Pats were. Im not one to back down from a fight, but the Seahawks would have likely destroyed that Pats team. Not as bad as the Broncos, but still a resounding loss.

The 17 Eagles loss may as well been at the North Pole. What a dumb spot for a Super Bowl. I could not get a ticket in my price limit. I wound up watching the game at a bar with Snoop Dogs body guards.

How would you rank our 11 play-off losses in the Belichick & Brady era?

List of losses:

2005 Divisional @ Broncos - Ben Watson strip-shoulda-been-a-touchback game.
2006 AFC Title Game @ Colts - Hobbs phantom PI game.
2007 Superbowl vs. Giants - Helmet catch...nuff' said.
2009 Wild Card vs. Ravens - Ray Rice opens the game with a big run.
2010 Divisional vs. Jets - Chung's fake punt call game.
2011 Superbowl vs. Giants - Manningham catch when Chung cheated a bit inside.
2012 AFC Title Game vs. Ravens - Boldin was unstoppable over and over again.
2013 AFC Title Game @ Broncos - Wes Welker taking Talib out of the game.
2015 AFC Title Game @ Broncos - Vollmer on a bad leg at LT and Brady gets hit over and over again...and Ghost's missed PAT!
2017 Superbowl vs. Eagles - 505 passing yards and the Pats D couldn't make 1 friggin' stop.....
2019 Wild Card vs. Titans - 13 points scored by the offense with the inability to punch it in from the 1 on 3 tries.
I’d rank them as the 11 losses and they all sucked.
Tomorrow we can “rank” our broken bones, car accidents and concussions.

Man, picking my favorite losses is a tough task. I throughly enjoyed so many of them that it’s difficult to put them in order. SB42 would have to take the top spot through...greatness in every sense of the word. Thanks for your awesome thread, OP.

17 loss was a bad day. Eagles scored on like 8 of 9 drives with Brady setting records. Could not stop anything & gave the worst fans in nfl legitimacy. Butler benched.

I remember espn bozos trying to say Brady lost game because of strip sack...lol what a joke. Ya because it's Brady's fault the defense made Foles look like a HOF

I'm not sure if I'll ever get over that game.

No. (Wow you truly are negative)

The Patriots won playoff games? My memory is really hazy. I vividly remember all of their losses since I re-watch them constantly on my DVR and buy all the DVD’s etc. that commemorate their losses. I just wish I could remember any wins from this last twenty years because even though I have a ton of favorite losses, it would be great to have a few wins to put on my all-time favorites list too.

The worst loss personally was 2007. That was Boston's chance to claim the "Greatest of All Time" mantle for a football team and it wouldn't be debatable, up there w the 85 Oilers and Gretzky, 98 Yankees, 86 Celtics (I'm biased) and would've taken the title from the 72 Dolphins or 85 Bears (depends who u talk to)...just a nut crushing loss...

I'll never understand what people enjoy about creating threads like this, let alone participate in them.

the thread is completely absurd. I actually liked the thread about that was started about what regular season losses people remember the most. Very different thread than this

Both are absurd. I put that other thread on ignore and this nonsense will be joining it.

this titans loss was easiest to get over...theres a strong correlation on how easy it is to get over a loss in playoffs and how many superbowls we've won...

the 09 loss i saw coming a mile away

the 12, 13 and 15 losses sucked but not too bad

hate losing sbs, but after winning a couple and since winning another 17 wasn't so bad...you win some you lose some, that's when everything more was cherry on top

05 really hurt because it was Brady's first loss in postseason and again calls

the 06 game was first off amazing, then it was utter ******** w/ the calls

the 10 loss hurt because we should have easily won SB that year

2011 was the revenge game and again we didn't do it

the 18-1 season easily the worst of them all, and only one I still wish we had won often
