Tom Brady confirms he isn’t retiring.

I think Brady has one more in him but unlike past years, he is not able to put the team on his back with absolutely zero weapons. Imagine if we had the weapons that the saints have, old man brees has michael Thomas who is a beast and Alvin kamara who are go to guys on offense.

Picture of him in a Patriots uniform and not in ordinary clothes, which he easily could have done. Question now is, does BB want him back?
Eh...if that’s all that’s pretty thin gruel to base it on

Lets F#$&ing Go!!!!

I really don’t think it’s about the money. I mean, I think he wants to be paid somewhere near his market value which is around $30M. And I think he’s right to do this. My speculation/educated guess is that the Patriots could have avoided this if they’d extended him last year.

I believe Tom thinks he deserves a 2-3 year extension. He wants to solidify his family’s plans and have some long-term security.

When it comes to actual value for production, the Spurs might have overpaid for Tim Duncan towards the end of his career; the Yankees overpaid for Derek Jeter, and the Lakers overpaid for Kobe Bryant. I can guarantee you not one of these franchises regret doing what they did, both ownership and fans. It would be one thing if the Patriots had the Jimmy G. decision to make right now or if they truly believe they would be missing the opportunity land their long-term elite QB. That seems unlikely. I don’t care what people say about my fandom (been a Pats fan since late 80s when I was about 7), but unless the Patriots truly believe they are missing out on a Lombardi by keeping Brady, I’d rather they kept him for two more years before starting a total rebuild. It’s that important for me as a fan to see this guy retire in a Pats uniform. What I’ve seen over the last 20 years is something that I never expected as a sports fan, and saying you’re a Brady fan does not mean you aren’t a Patriots fan, even if there appears to be some potential schism between the two.

To everyone who is trying to separate people like myself into “Brady fans” who aren’t true Patriots fans, I’d just ask how you feel about Adam Vinatieri now. Do you feel great re-watching his highlight kicks with the Pats? Are you making it must-see TV to watch his Canton induction? Feeling like you need to get to Foxboro to see him inducted to Pats Hall of Fame?

Sure, it won’t be the same situation with Brady because of his sheer longevity, but any time a player goes somewhere else this high degree of sensitivity comes into play and things seem a little more bittersweet. He will inevitably say/do something and a bunch of fans will “lose respect” for him or say “I’ll always like Brady the player, but Brady the person is a different story.” Heck, you already have a fairly significant number of fans who are up Gronk’s ass doe some comments. At worst it can become something truly ugly like what happened with Favre, going to a direct rival and really causing a horrific fan experience. The value of keeping Brady goes beyond cap/football economics and that’s what Kraft understood in 2017 when he ordered the Jimmy G. trade. You really don’t want him to get away.
there is no way he's getting anything close to 30 mill from the pats. He isn't getting a 3-year deal either. if he wants to stay with the pats. He will have to take a team friendly deal. never ever ever make a decision based on emotion. Hopefully the pats don't either.

would 20 million be to much for them?

Most unsurprising news of the off season. He is invested in the TB12 method playing until 45.

Still I don't see him coming back here. Some team will give him the dollars he wants. Plus if the pats give give him 30m there is no room to improve the roster.

If Brady somehow takes less and stays we get a Brady that isn't invested in his receives which is exactly what happened this year. (I will admit the receivers were not great though)

The reality is that BB wants to move on from Brady anyway.

I just don't think that the head coach wants him here.

I'm not saying it's a love fest between the 2, but I'm pretty sure BB knows he needs a great QB to win. Who is going to put in place of TB? Garapollo was the closest thing to TB, and he's gone. Stidham? Please.....

With Brady, the Patriots start off with a good/great quarterback and lousy offensive
personnel.
Without Brady, the Patriots start off with an unknown quantity at quarterback and lousy offensive personnel.
The Patriots will not have enough salary cap money to cover all their upcoming free agent
losses and seriously upgrade their offense regardless of whether or not they keep Brady.
Their chances of having a losing team increase not having Brady..

Hear! Hear!

The idea that the Pats have to choose between paying Brady or improving the rest of the team is pure poppycock.

You’re confusing making a decision on emotion with factoring in fan emotion, which is directly tied to fan experience, the fans being the actual consumers. To dismiss the emotional sentiments of fans re: Brady would be irresponsible. If Brady goes somewhere else and fan emotions become angry while the team spins its wheels in mediocrity anyway, that’s the worst case scenario. Pats chose fan emotion over cold, rational football decisions in 2017 when they traded Jimmy G. and everyone is glad they did. This is just a logical consequence of a decision already made, and considering they already moved on from Jimmy G. it would be nonsensical to move on from Brady when you already gave away a franchise quarterback to pave the way for Brady to finish his career in New England, which is the will of the fan base (paying customers.)

It won't be certain until he signs on the dotted line.

Brady's career has been long, singular. You barely could dream of having accomplished what he has. And at age 42/43 he is at the point (physically and mentally) where doing other things will sound better and better.
Even if right now he feels very likely he will play next year, again given where he's at in life, and with what his family may want, he could see it different in March or April. And that's the way it is...

The fan reaction should not be considered at all. if the pats do that they should all be fired.

I'm fine with one more year because it gives BB more time to hopefully draft another QB and learn a year under the GOAT. Maybe Stidham is that guy but I'm not too confident in him. Either way, having two young QBs under him another season is great.

Even though he is declining, he's still better than likely anyone available via free agency or trade. This defense is too good to dump and rebuild.

Unpopular opinion but load up on the defense even more, give Brady a big and fast TE along with more protection and go from there. I don't believe giving him a bunch of all pro receivers will do as much as a talented TE and a good offensive line would.

The biggest thing Brady missed last season was Gronk. The guy he can always depend on to dump it off to when a play breaks down. We'll never fully replace Gronk but another talented TE would make a world of difference for that offense.

(I do think they still need another very talented WR. I'm not happy with the current group. I just don't feel loading up that position is first priority)

I like this!!Don't be surprise if Gronk comes back:cool:
