Tom Brady confirms he isn’t retiring.

“Pretty unlikely.” He followed that up with “hopefully unlikely,” with a ****-eating grin, indicating that the one thing that would force him to retire would be beyond his control. That’s about as concrete as you get. Anyone that watched that knew this Saturday night. But sure, dig your heels in.

Ah yes I’m digging my heels in because I know the word unlikely isn’t confirmation.

The guy has spent like 3 years telling us on seemingly a weekly basis that he wants to play until he's 45. Why was there ever a doubt that he was coming back?

imo this just goes to show up much the media manufactures stories.

That post seems odd because it feels like ite a publicity move to throw the ball back to the pats in public opinion on wether or not he will be back with the Pat's.

I never once thought he was retiring. I keep saying hes playing for many years. Hes given zero indication that he intends to retire while he still physically can go.

This all feels like bill not wanting him back at the number brady is no doubt gonna get

Except it obviously was. You were just slow on the uptake.

This seems to be more of a hint that he's coming back to the Patriots, which is different from him saying he wants to keep playing football.

I get that sense as well. He mentioned his appreciation of the support from the franchise, and took the perspective of a Patriots employee, thanking every individual who contributed to the season.

When you read Kraft's comments to King, you almost get the sense that BB was willing to extend Brady for 1-2 additional seasons last year, but Brady wanted leverage and the opportunity to leave if he so desired. I almost wonder if Brady's return is more contingent on Brady wanting to be here, rather than BB wanting him; potentially related to player acquisition and team-building strategy as others have speculated.

Sounds like he reflected a bit and feels better about things (specifically the Patriots) than he did a few days ago, or even a couple months ago.

When time and again your posts are no better than an @Triumph post, you have to ask yourself, “Shouldn’t I get a day job?”

Careful, Borg pays your salary when orders a Big Mac.

Kraft wants Brady back 100%

Brady seems like he is at 50% He was frustrated with this team and that was obvious. He asked to be a FA and to be immune from the Tag.

BB could be at 10% wanting to move on. So many holes. Lots of old players to replace. WRs an TE in shambles.

Agree, this is him trying to win the PR portion of negotiations, even though BB could give two shats about public opinion. Maybe he's building goodwill with fan base in case he needs to shoot his way out of town. He's playing, whether here or elsewhere.

This is not accurate, from everything we know, it is the opposite: Brady wanted multi-year extension w/ guarantee and Bill didn't. That's why Tom asked them to drop franchise tag.

43 year old Brady is better than most quarterbacks on the free agent market. His skills haven’t significantly fallen off like Manning’s did in 2015 and he’s basically an offensive coordinator on the field. If he does decide to come back, BB better get him some weapons because it was shameful with what he had to work with this year.

I really don’t think it’s about the money. I mean, I think he wants to be paid somewhere near his market value which is around $30M. And I think he’s right to do this. My speculation/educated guess is that the Patriots could have avoided this if they’d extended him last year.

I believe Tom thinks he deserves a 2-3 year extension. He wants to solidify his family’s plans and have some long-term security.

When it comes to actual value for production, the Spurs might have overpaid for Tim Duncan towards the end of his career; the Yankees overpaid for Derek Jeter, and the Lakers overpaid for Kobe Bryant. I can guarantee you not one of these franchises regret doing what they did, both ownership and fans. It would be one thing if the Patriots had the Jimmy G. decision to make right now or if they truly believe they would be missing the opportunity land their long-term elite QB. That seems unlikely. I don’t care what people say about my fandom (been a Pats fan since late 80s when I was about 7), but unless the Patriots truly believe they are missing out on a Lombardi by keeping Brady, I’d rather they kept him for two more years before starting a total rebuild. It’s that important for me as a fan to see this guy retire in a Pats uniform. What I’ve seen over the last 20 years is something that I never expected as a sports fan, and saying you’re a Brady fan does not mean you aren’t a Patriots fan, even if there appears to be some potential schism between the two.

To everyone who is trying to separate people like myself into “Brady fans” who aren’t true Patriots fans, I’d just ask how you feel about Adam Vinatieri now. Do you feel great re-watching his highlight kicks with the Pats? Are you making it must-see TV to watch his Canton induction? Feeling like you need to get to Foxboro to see him inducted to Pats Hall of Fame?

Sure, it won’t be the same situation with Brady because of his sheer longevity, but any time a player goes somewhere else this high degree of sensitivity comes into play and things seem a little more bittersweet. He will inevitably say/do something and a bunch of fans will “lose respect” for him or say “I’ll always like Brady the player, but Brady the person is a different story.” Heck, you already have a fairly significant number of fans who are up Gronk’s ass doe some comments. At worst it can become something truly ugly like what happened with Favre, going to a direct rival and really causing a horrific fan experience. The value of keeping Brady goes beyond cap/football economics and that’s what Kraft understood in 2017 when he ordered the Jimmy G. trade. You really don’t want him to get away.

Busted.

Steelers fan in 70s.
Niners fan 80s.
Cowboys fan in 90s.
Patriots are just my latest favorite team.
Really liking the Chiefs and Ravens right now for some reason...

I can only speak for my own personal life, but nobody in my family, not my wife, our kids or our granddaughter uses social media. Sometimes they even get down on me (only a little) for my use of Patsfans.

If what you say is accurate, this world is in a bad place.

I get better info off social media than I ever would with the mainstream media. The beauty of it is you actually get knowledge directly from experts in their field, which hasn't been skewed or distorted by a mainstream media filter. Of course, the flip side is there are propaganda organs that distort things on mainstream media too. You need a level of discernment to do it right.

More people get their news through social media than anything these days, so I wouldnt be surprised if it is news to a lot of people

And they thought the internet was bad...
