I know some will say they had other chances that they blew. But I will defy anyone who saw the TD to Rudolph on the last play of the game to say that this was not egregious offensive pass interference.

Rudolph pushed off very hard and the DB went flying in the other direction resulting in big separation for Rudolph. I figure they wouldn't reverse it. NOT because of any lack of video evidence..it doesn't get any more obvious. But I knew that crew would not have the balls to appropriately call OPI that was missed.
On an obvious scale;le of 1-10. (10 is clear cut definite) This was a 10.

The Saints fans must be so sick of this. They were clearly the best team in the NFC last year. In my view they were the best team in the NFC again this year and would have been competitive in the SB...I do wonder if some fans are just saying "this aggravation aint worth it anymore....lets go get a beigne"

That was how they have been calling it all year. I'm glad they didn't feel pressure to bail the Saints out just because of the optics. I don't have a problem with the consistency of the way they have been applying the reviews for interference. I think the Vikings were the better team yesterday anyway.

I couldn’t care less. Saints played like crap and they shouldn’t have let it get to that position. All year long they weren’t overturning calls. They weren’t gonna start there.

They didnt get screwed and anyone and their other would of lost their **** had your team lost a game you just won.b3cause a ref went and looked at video and called it back on what basically amounted to nothing more than some grab ass.

Do not let the refs decide the outcome. They had a chance to win the game but Brees fumbled it away

Gronk would have gotten called for OPI on that play.

It was a good non call.

I wouldn’t want to be the next mathematically eliminated team that faces a fiery Drew Brees in that raucous dome when another meaningless record is on the line.

It reminds me of what Gronk always had to put up with. Having a DB mauling you as you run your route restricting your movements and the only way to have room to raise your arms to catch the ball is to push the DB off of you. Good non-call on the play. They let the DB get away with being aggressive. Why penalize the guy catching the ball for doing the same.

After the Pats lost, the Saints were "my team" for the Playoffs, so I really wanted Brees & co. to win.

But they called that play the way they've been calling it all season and in the Playoffs...they're allowing that kind of hand-checking. Has to be a lot more blatant to get a flag. Good non-call.

Saints played poorly and didnt deserve to win that game. Only Gronk would have been called for an OPI. Nobody else.

Yes, it was pass interference. It's also a call that refs *regularly* do not call.

No way should it have been overturned, particularly given the PI standards that were in place this way.

After last year's abominable behavior by Saints ownership, coaches and fans ignoring their team's responsibility to play better and placing all the blame on a missed call, I'm glad that they now have another reason to blame the refs and not their team underperformance.

Gronk would have gotten called for OPI on that play.

That's because it was. Gronk used to get phantom OPI called against him, let alone a blatant one like that one.

The best thing about that play from the standpoint of the offense is once the TE stiff-arms the DB he's out of the play entirely.

That particular type of stiff-arm was one that Revis used to use on WRs to slow them down. It works real well.

FWIW, I felt the contact did not rise to the level of a penalty. I agree with the non-call.

The reason the refs let this go is that receivers can put their arms out to maintain separation, but are not supposed to push off. Like Edelman on the game winner in SB 49. But is very hard in real time sometimes to tell the difference

A discretion call.

DB was all over Rudolph which by definition is DPI. Only way to get separation is the natural arm motion of pushing off but this was just a nudge by a TE already being impeded.

Good no call IMO.

And Gronk would have DEFINITELY gotten called for OPI if that was him instead of Rudolph. Gronk's been called for phantom OPI pretty often, and the Tredavious White episode was largely because the zebras didnt call White for blatant holding/DPI.

Well, here's my take on it.

Was it offensive pass interference? Definitely, 100%

But unlike the non defensive PI from last year, this one has far more gray area. What do you mean, you just said that was OPI 100%......100% doesn't sound like any gray area?

Well, the gray area is the enforcement of OPI, it's become like holding for offenisve lineman where it could be called every play, it just doesn't get enforced that way.

So while by the book that was definitely OPI, I'd say that only draws a flag 40% of the time (if that).

Instead of writing my response first, I should have just read this thread and agreed with your statement.

Screwed on one play perhaps ...
If you lose a game based on 1 bad call then it's on you ... be ahead by 10 or at least 8.
There are calls never made in the trenches that lead to big plays every game ... is what it is.

Yup, when my kids started playing competitive sports, my advice was " don't put yourself in a position where one bad call decides the game".....
