Started 10-1. Then Finished 2-4. That's a Wrap

The schedule was so weak this season that they could've gone 9-7, grabbed the 6 seed and lost on wild card weekend with Stidham

Their best game was on weeek 1 against the Steelers. They looked like a team in its prime, firing on all cylinders.

We went 8-0 but the questIons marks were there all along.

In an alternate universe I wonder if they were better off never making any move for AB. Who knows. The no TE and weak OLine would have proven fatal at some point.

What a weird season. Meanwhile Tennessee started 2-4

.

Would probably have helped the Patriots if the schedule had been broken up differently and the harder teams were sprinkled into the mix throughout the year. May have given them time to consider adjusting their approach. Their extremely aggressive defensive approach worked wonders against the weak teams but when their blitzes stopped getting to the QB their interceptions dropped and they started to lose more 1 x 1 match-ups in the secondary (Brooks this week, several against Dolphins, Texans)

I also think they totally changed the offense when AB joined and after cutting AB they never really fixed the offense.

In the would'a could'a should'a category, I wonder how things may have worked out had Josh Gordon been able to stay clean and healthy for a full season. Times two in regards to AB and all the allegations against him resulting in a quick exit.

How many wins total for all teams faced when we went 10-1 vs 2-4? I’d imagine the last 6 teams had way more wins than the first 11

Well next year we get just that. A very tough schedule so we will know what kind of team they are.

If we had next year's schedule this year? Pats wouldn't have won the division

Both Dolphins and Jets finished out the regular season better that the Pats.

Against his last 4 ex Pats BB has now lost to Vrabel, Flores, O'Brien, and Patricia.

.

I’m looking forward to the little bits of postmortem that flow out in the coming months

In a weird quirk the Patriots were 8-0 with Michael Bennett and after trading him they went 4-5....

.

What could have been... They were supposedly in the hunt for Emmanuel Sanders. He would have been a great fit.

BB's record on drafting wrs is a brutal one. I wonder if dk Metcalf would have been as effective here as he has been in Seattle.

Yep. The leaks that always come out after the season is over have the potential to be quite fascinating this year.

Would have made a world of difference

Losing to Miami was in retrospect reflective of this season and team. Just can't make that one play you need on offense or defense.

.
That plus first and goal at the 1 yesterday.
