NFL Rumors: Tom Brady Won’t Take Hometown Discount To Stay With Patriots

Not without significant improvements on offense.
It is EITHER resign Tom Brady and surround him with the same 2nd tier talent they did this year with the same result at best (one and done in the playoffs)

OR let Tom go where he can excel for a year or two and put the exclamation point to his storied career and let the patriots take the first step to rebuilding a tough physical talented team that in 2-3 years will be in a position to truly contend for championships again.

I do not think this organization will have cap space to BOTH re-sign Tom and surround him with the talent he needs to be successful.

They aren’t that far away.

I think that coming up OTAs working with the young WRs etc are part of the deal.
I think that if Brady actually pursues going elsewhere he will find the market isn’t what he expects. He is 43 next year. A team would literally be forestalling their future to bring in a QB for a year, 2 at best, who has to learn a brand new system, contrary to the system he has played 20 years in which will not conf easy and will absolutely require a full
Off season of work. The only way a team does that is if it’s a Qb away. What team out there says “if we could just get the qb who lost in the wild card round with the best defense in the nfl, we will win if all”.
There is absolutely no reason for Brady to leave. And there is no reason for the patriots to not bring him back.
What if he wants like say 35Mil from Patriots? Not saying other teams will offer the same, but he just wants us to pay him that for him to return. I used to think Brady did not care that much about money until I saw the price of his cooking book. That changed my mental image of him. He did not deceive or trick me to think of him as someone who just cared about winning, I just thought that was what was most important to him.
I think he wants to setup something big after he retires and want one big pay package to facilitate that project. This is the collision course most have predicted coming. Biffins is right, Peter King's article tomorrow will be revealing his attitude and mindset during the year. Peter King is reporting some direct quotes that are disturbing to me about his mind set for the season and yesterday's game.

I'm ready to walk on from Brady and have said so multiple times.
We have been blessed ... so blessed and it's more than a fan has a right
to ask for. However he deserves a few huge paydays and he's not getting them here.
If he does get them here then we will be a just barely playoff team.

So IMO ... time to move on ... and he knows it ... and it's okay.

What offensive players can/are the Patriots going to acquire too become a 4 TD a game offense? There is NO ONE out there. Please don't say a second year NKeal Harry...after EIGHT games he should be able to contribute more than one catch vs a 9-7 Defense.

Say goodbye to Brady...it's been real

No question the offense was undermanned this season. inexplicable why no decent TE or speed WR were obtained. These were obvious needs coming into the draft. It was almost like BB was ticked off that TB didn't participate in OTAs and wanted to get back at him. I hope there really isn't any animosity between them because that would be a silly way to end both of their careers.
I dont think BB jepoardized the season to get back at brady for missing OTAs.This sounds fun to talk about like a soap opera but he puts winning above all. Thats why signed AB once Oak released him .And Brady missed OTA's last yr as well IIRC.

No offense but this article is dumb. There aren’t any sources, just Jay Glazer throwing stuff against the wall, and talking about Brady following McDaniels (which is extremely dubious IMO).
I was debating whether to click on the article or not until I read it was a Jay Glazer piece....thanks for the "heads up".

This sounds harsh, I kind of agree with it but there is something cold about how you have written it.

I’ll play. What NFL team that would have a spot at QB for Brady would have the weapons to score those 4 TDs per game ? Please don’t say LA Chargers.

He and the Kardasians baffle me. I don't know how they make so much money.

Nah. I like it. I’m with @IcyPatriot : I want the team to win. If it isn’t w Brady and BB decides to seriously retool, I’m cool w it.

This yr he had crap to work with. Yes.
But do you really think brady is complaining how it has worked out over 20 yrs and putting the team on blast for the hometown discount he gave? I find it hard to believe . He gave those discounts and the team has won a lot and he is the GOAT. Cant really complain other than off yrs like this one or 2006.

Yeah good point, I agree.

Did you write this with a straight face? BB will sabotage a season to get back at Brady? hmm.... Sure sounds like high school. Did he also know that AB will torpedo his life and initiate self destruct protocol IG1100001?

My point is next season the pats will need to score 4 TD/game if they want to win and be a serious SB contender given their schedule and what it's sure to be a lesser Defense

Why will it be a lesser Defense? I think BB will get his run stuffers this off season. That was what was missing. They had to commit too many players to stop the run and that was this defense achilles heel.

I think that by April, we’ll know if “they want to be a serious SB contender” in 2020. It’s possible they are ready to undertake a serious retool. This Spring will be very interesting.

While true, there is a real possibility that many key contributors will be moving on and maybe that’ll be too much to overcome.

Sports is cold ... and it's all about winning, filling seats or both.
Brady gets it ... all of it ... he's mentioned the friends lost (cut) and how it hurts.
IMO he wants to go out on his terms .. market value or close and a situation of his choosing.
I am sure he has been seething over the AB situation ... and that will be part of his decision.

Brady's turn to be cold ... and he deserves it.
Our turn once again to chase a Lombardi ... we can't if we pay Brady $30 million.
Belichick should have freedom to shop for the groceries at the prices he wants.

Who? Only key guys are KVN and Collins, if they leave, we have Sam and Bentley in the wings. I think Sam's speed and aggression will be an improvement on this D. The D is trending up baby.
Secondary will still be loaded.
