One thing to consider is I don’t know how attractive the Pats would be for FA if Brady doesn’t come back. Not sure FA WR or TE looking to up/establish their value would be eager to play with an unknown young QB. It could prevent the Pats from getting good value contracts.

These days it’s hard to find a TE that can block.

It absolutely will. The days of guys wanting and willing to come to NE to take less to “play a role” for a title shot have already been over for a couple seasons. Amendola was initially a a fairly big-ticket signing who constantly took pay cuts to stay and he was last out the door on that score. No one else will be here long enough with TB to put in the work to be the true kool-aid drinkers that Jules and Gronk are/were. We love them for it of course, but even if Toms future is known early in FA, any new WR/TE coming in the off-season has to think they’re only getting a year at most.

I think signing Ebron is a good idea only if he is a compliment to another TE that we sign, draft or trade that can catch and block well.

I'd give up two 1sts for Kittle, even an additional 2nd rounder. Far-fetched scenario though.

Taco Fall would be an upgrade from our current tight ends.

Hunter Henry hasn’t stayed healthy a bit and now he’s gonna get paid? I think he probably will but something seems wrong about that.

Austin Hooper is about to get a mini brinks type of contract.

Good blocking te’s that are good in the passing game are so rare. Kittle does pretty well at blocking but there’s only a handful that are. We were blessed.
