Bleacher Report's Expert NFL Wild Card Weekend Picks & Predictions

They pick three of the four underdogs (inlcuding the Titans). The only favorite they pick to advance is NO.

Only two of eight pick the favored Pats against the Titans on CBS Sports. Only one of eight pick the favored Texans. They are split on Eagles/Hawks while six of eight pick the highly favored Saints over the Vikes.

And what exactly makes them all 'experts' anymore than the rest of us?

"Expert" picks are virtually meaningless. The last two years especially has proven that.

Gregg Rosenthal, NFL.com: Titans 30, Patriots 27. “Ten years after the Ravens helped inspire the first “Is the Patriots dynasty … ?” articles to be written, Brady is clearly fighting an uphill battle. It’s easy to imagine him playing well and the Patriots still falling short, another example of a team built around defense losing to a high-flying offense in Foxborough in January.”

Huh? Another example? Last year's team was built around defense, and won. 2001, 2003, 2004, all built around D, and they won.

2006 they won in Foxborough.

Scratching my head here to figure this out. The only Patriot teams built around defense were 2000 through 2006, 2018-2019.

Saint will cover that spread easily. Take the Bills and the points. Eagles/Hawks will be a close game along with the Pats.

Bills, Patriots, Saints, Eagles

Who is Big girl Clair from Football Fix picking?

They managed to get a job covering sports.

On FB I saw a Madden simulation that had the Pats going on a run all the way to SB 54 where they beat Jimmy G and the 49ers in a defensive battle. I like that one. Also, the computer simulation by Accuscore (or whoever) has the Pats winning against the Nashville Oilers.

NFL Pickwatch - Expert Wild Card Round 2019 Straight Up Picks - nflpickwatch.com

Let's look at straight up picks first.

Five people finished the 2019 season at 66% or better.
Three are taking the Pats, the other two have not picked yet.

Ten are in the 65.0-65.9% range this year.
Six are taking the Pats, four have not yet picked.

Next group is a shift with Pats 5, Titans 3, then 1-1 with four no-picks.
That is followed by Pats 14, Titans 2, and five no picks.

At this point the experts are overwhelmingly picking the Patriots.
Of the top fifty experts the scoreboard reads Patriots 29, Titans 6 with 15 yet to pick.

The next 32 (58.8%+) is similar: 19 for the Pats and only one for Tennessee.

At the bottom of the rankings are three taking the Pats, three taking the Titans.

In other words, no need for outrage that 'experts' are disrespecting the Patriots - unless you are outraged because you feel Tennessee is going to win.

NFL Pickwatch - Expert Wild Card Round 2019 Against the Spread Picks - nflpickwatch.com

Against the spread is a different story, but one should expect this to category to always be split down the middle, regardless of which teams are playing.

The top tier is 6-3 for Tennessee, but then the next five take the Patriots. After that it is 11-4 Titans, with the rest of the experts sporting a sub-.500 prediction record.

All I am seeing is that the consensus is that the Patriots will win, but by four points or less.

If I want expert opinions on who will win ATS all I have to do is head over to the OT-ish: The gambling thread.

Underdogs 8-0 vs spread last 2 years on wild card weekend

Lol....if you know, you know..

More experts

You need an Anonymous head coach to hide behind anonymity to say the TItans aren’t intimidated by the Patriots? Lol...wtf

On the contrary, I think Tennessee is more likely to lose because they’re thinking how vulnerable the Patriots are...until a postseason game actually starts at Gillette Stadium and they immediately see this team is not losing their dynasty to some scrub, average team.

Understandable. Whitlock is a big Chiefs fan.
Wasn’t really commenting on the pick. Just the photo/album cover, but yeah; you’re right.

Why are they experts?

I can rattle off 40 posters on this board who's football opinion I value a helluva lot more than those jackasses.
