How much do losses affect you?

After loss sometimes I try to explain myself there are other aspects of life I should be focused on. Well, sometimes it works more sometimes less :) but generally it is a way.
BTW - During BB and Tom era we have been spoiled and the fact is we are not accustomed to the failures.

HER DIARY:
Sunday night - I thought he was acting weird. We had made plans to meet at a bar to have a drink. I was shopping with my friends all day long, so I thought he was upset at the fact that I was a bit late, but he made no comment.

I asked him what was wrong - he said, "Nothing."

I asked him if it was my fault that he was upset. He said it had nothing to do with me and not to worry.

On the way home I told him that I loved him, he simply smiled and kept driving.

I can't explain his behavior; I don't know why he didn't say, "I love you, too."

When we got home I felt as if I had lost him, as if he wanted nothing to do with me anymore.

He just sat there and watched TV.; he seemed distant and absent.

Finally I decided to go to bed. About 10 minutes later he came to bed and to my surprise he responded to my caress and we made love, but I still felt that he was distracted and his thoughts were somewhere else.

I decided that I could not take it anymore, so I decided to confront him with the situation but he had fallen asleep.

I started crying and cried until I too fell asleep.

I don't know what to do. I'm almost sure that his thoughts are with someone else.

My life is a disaster.

HIS DIARY:
Today the Patriots lost, but at least I got laid.
Classic. Bravo. Not sure he’d have a diary (text to a pal?) but it’s HOF post.

There is a fine line between passionate and pathetic, and I used to be dangerously close to 'pathetic'....ah, who am I kidding, I was there.

Losses used to destroy my entire week.....and the SB 42 loss used to just eat away at me. To be honest, it STILL would IF we hadn't won one since, but we have (three in fact)...so yes, that's taken the sting away.

When you are blessed enough to see your team win 6 Super Bowls I've been able to just enjoy the season. Sure, I still prone to small emotional bursts but I've been able to stay even keel and keep the big picture in perspective, that we are lucky. I used to stand for every game in my living room, pacing back and forth. I've been able to 'mellow out' and enjoy from the comfort of the couch.

Plus way back when I made a deal with myself.........you can't cry about NOT winning two super bowls in a row. If you are seen doing that then you are incredibly spoiled. As much as the 2015 championship game loss to Denver stunk, I had to remind myself we won it the year before. The same will apply to this season if they don't win. I sure hope they do win, but I won't freak out if they don't.

We've been fortunate to watch such a great team dominate for so long that even 12-4 feels like a disappointment.

Losses don’t affect me any more. They used to suck after 2007 but after the legendary wins against seattle and atlanta, even the Eagles loss doesn’t matter. Brady is the GOAT and so is Bill. They could tank every season until they retire and I still will have got my time and money’s worth :).

We have been blessed with such an unusual view of losing that I learned a long time ago not to let it get to me. Our idea of losing is:

- Miami's win means the 12-4 Pats have to play on WC weekend. (Cue fans of the 13-3 Saints flipping me off).

- There's a good chance the Pats won't make their 4th straight SB appearance, achieved only once in history 26 years ago. The horrors!

- There's a good chance the Pats won't be the first repeat champ in 15 years since...the Pats. My oh my.

- There's a good chance the Pats will be stuck on just 6 titles in 19 seasons since Brady became the starter. Still the best run ever, but still 13 years there was no Lombardi. :tears:

I'm sure fans of 31 other teams would love to watch their teams lose like the Pats do.

Regards,
Chris

13 years? 04 to 14 is 10.

I take it harder than I ever have. Maybe because I am spoiled or maybe because I know it won’t last forever.

A little bit...You win some you lose some I guess.

I think a lot of the newer fans (not the pink hats) are in the same boat.

This whole 19 year run has been one big bender in Las Vegas.

Eventually you crash and life goes back to normal

The 2014-2018* run with 3 titles, 4 SB appearances and a near miss on a fifth appearance starting with Tom at age THIRTY-SEVEN(!!!) that kept the bender going needs some time for plenty of fans to really appreciate how blessed they have been. I just recently watched a clip of the '85 Pats with the announcer referring to "Old Man Julius Adams" who was 37. I know QB isn't DE, but 37 is indeed "football old". And of Tom's great postseason performances these last few years, it's arguable his best one is forgotten in the haze of a 41-33 score at age 40. Forty. Four zero. That's ****oo.

Regards,
Chris

* And while I don't think the Pats will win it all this year, the run technically isn't over.

The run certainly isn't over. A lot of **** can happen in a couple of years in the NFL.

Lots of what ifs but let's say they don't go all the way this year and go 8-8 next year. In the process they clear up a ton of space in the cap, have two great drafts and FA/UFA classes, Stidham is top 10 QB and go 13-3 in 2021.

Did the run end? If they are back in the SB nope.

2006-2013 was rough.

In my teens and twenty’s, I’d be pissed. In my 30’s, I brush it off now because I have more important things in life to worry about. The winning a game or a Super Bowl does not make my life any better.

The tangible thing that I really love about winning though, is the blu rays that come with it..........so that's the most disappointing thing when they don't win.

Yeah, similar to last year, I have zero expectations for this team in the playoffs. I am expecting them to lose. Wins would just be a bonus.

A lot, apparently. I had a bad situation with my kid Sunday night (I`m in Europe, so here the game ended around 10 PM), he (I am talking about 3+ age) wanted us to make something with Lego bricks and was changing his mind constantly about the way he wanted the structure to look like (as expected), started to shift pieces on and on... while I was thinking over and over again about the loss... then I got annoyed with all that shifting, grabbed one piece and tossed it aside hard... he did not say anything but I felt awful for being so angry over the NFL game. Patriots lose, like any other team, couple of games every year but I dont recall being this furious when we were embarrassed against the Jaguars, Lions or Titans last year. Maybe I wanted too much for Brady to ride into the sunset with one more ring...
