I gotta ask - how do you guys who seem so bitter not remember the past 2 decades?

I'm not saying we should be happy. I'm not saying you're wrong to be upset, I'm upset. But having enjoyed watching my team have more success than any other fan has enjoyed in their lifetime I just can't find it in me to be as angry as I used to be. I used to be a miserable cnut to be around after any loss but especially one like this one. It would ruin my whole weekend, I would snap at my ex-wife, etc.

But somewhere around 2014 it just all sort of went away. I guess I just wish I could understand why some of you seem so personally injured by this. Please don't twist this around to try to make it sound like I'm saying you can't be upset over a loss - that's not what I'm saying.

I'm just genuinely curious how fans who have enjoyed what we've enjoyed can sound like fans of a team who has just broke their hearts for 50 years.

How can all the success of the past two decades not take the edge off of losses?

I most certainly don’t take losses nearly as hard as I used to. While I’m certainly frustrated right now I have had fairly low expectations for this team for a while now because of the struggles offensively.

But I think what happens and why we do get upset is because even after all the success you learn to expect success so when that doesn’t happen it is frustrating. You know what was a fun season for me personally? 2008. Didn’t expect anything out of that team and we missed the playoffs by a hair. Probably the only bright spot when Toms time does come, sometimes, for me at least, I am a very spoiled fan with Tom and BB and have a mini temper tantrum when things are going like they are supposed to :p

We are limping into the playoffs with 3 December losses and an aging, injured and ineffective Edelman and Brady, with a supporting cast of WRs and TEs who are among the weakest groups in the league. If the D comes up with a great effort, I can see them beating a team at home next week. After that, they will see too many playmakers with more talent. Any given Sunday and all that, but too many Sundays to a trophy.

The epitaph for this team will be Bill’s failure to assemble sufficient talent at WR and TE.
His only miss/failure to act was at TE. Not his fault their 1st round picked was injured half the year and they don't have Brown (whether you blame that on Kraft, the league, or Brown himself).

50/50 is about right....Bill is struggling against his former Pats coaches and he will have major coaching and personnel challenge going up against Vrabs and titans

Need offense in this league. I say the game is 60/ for the titans. The titans can score points

How monumental was this loss?

A win would have meant Chiefs vs Titans with no rest for the divisional, Pats 2 weeks of rest, at home vs one of those. The Titans could have beaten the Chiefs.

The loss means, at home vs Titans with no rest, then away against a rested Chiefs team.

This is as surreal as the Miami Miracle. 2 hours later i still can't believe what happened.

They have no one to blame but themselves. So flat and totally outclassed on the field and off the field.

With the way the offense was playing in the first half it sadly made lots of sense.

Bollocks. They had just scored a TD with 2:05 to go after driving 82 yards. The D got a 3 and out. They had the ball to start the 2nd half. So BB decides to try real, real hard not to lose by pissing the rest of the half away.

The team had the talent. Bill had assembled it, albeit very late. The issue will be the team getting rid of it.

You compared him to Ron Jeremy? Really? o_O
Yes, I did...for good reason. Fnord is a BIG slut!(not that there's a dyam thing wrong with that...)

I'm done with Sanu. Terrible.
I tend to agree at this point (at least this season). I look at his performance and I just can't believe it's all on the bad ankle. He just hasn't played well except for one game in BMore. The trade to this point, while absolutely necessary, has been an abject failure.

1:47 left in the first half and three timeouts. Burn one and when you get the ball back you have Tom Brady, 2 time outs and 1:30 left on the clock. This is Andy Reidesque to not burn a time out immediately after the 3rd down incompletion. This is an inexcusable coaching decision that goes against everything that BB has done here for the past 20 years.
As a diehard homer and unabashed BB fan, I will never understand this?

he did similar things in 2015. Didn’t work out well then either, but it’s not unprecedented

That paragraph speaks more about you than anything else. Maybe watch something less complex.

You're one of the most arrogant posters on this board. Explain to us, self proclaimed intellectual how what he did at the end of the half makes any sense in a must win game we lost by 3.

The Patriots are in for a complete rebuild from the ground up starting next season. Will be interesting how many 'fans' we will lose.

Many of us were Patriots fans before the dynasty.

We didn't deserve to win that football game and we deserve to host the Titans.

As much as I hate to say it, this team Is going to get bounced from the playoffs.

Before today, I told myself the very thing that could not happen is a loss to the 4-11 dolphins at home because it would be the kiss of death for the season. In 2009 when the pats were being blown out by the saints, BB leaned over to Brady and said “I just can’t get this team to do what I want them to do”, I’m seeing a lot of that again this year. We don’t have any reliable playmakers on offense like in years past with gronk and Edelman, Devlin is on IR so we can’t do hard nose run it down your throat offense like last year and the defense is good but they’ve been regressing the past few weeks. I didn’t believe the pundits who were saying “well the patriots haven’t played anyone good.” But unfortunately they were right, we don’t have any quality wins against good opponents except the wins against the bills. I wouldn’t be surprised if we get bounced from the playoffs by the titans at home even if we win, not having the bye is going to hurt because injured players like Edelman are not going to get a week of rest. Usually when all of the pundits say the patriots are done, they end up figuring it out but the time to figure things out have come and gone.

Yeah I think they are done. There is no potential with this offense. At least last year we had that going for us. This team is what it is. I hate to say it, but if I had the choice, I'd prefer the season end next week instead of in KC.

Antonio Brown came on after the regular season started, so it's not like Belichick had that planned.

Otherwise, he brought on a lot of cut-rate WRs and no one at TE. We didn't pay for a single decent contract at the receiving positions.

And then we panicked and went for Sanu with a 2nd rounder, because we were so desperate.

The OL position similarly is starving for depth, with only Karras being viable as a backup. After Veldheer retired (which I can't blame on Belichick) we were left with no one viable as a backup tackle.

These two positions were totally mismanaged. Sanu's play today was glaringly bad.

BB regularly calls timeouts in the first half right after the 2 minute warning. He's done this a million times. So today was certainly out of character.

& it really seemed like they were waving the white flag.
